T i Pac« 4 QUEENS BLUES November 27, 1940 MacGregor Plans District N.E.B^A. The district meeting of the Na tional Educational Buyers’ Associa tion will be held jointly at Queens and Davidson Colleges, December 13 and 14, H. M. MacGregor, of Queens College and F. L. Jackson, of David son College, will be the hosts. The Educational Buyers’ Associa tion is composed of the business man agers of all the major colleges in the United States, and its purpose is to enable all members to buy goods directly from the factory. It is a non profit co-operative organization, with national headquarters in New York City and is maintained by dues, which the members pay in proportion to the size of the college which they represent. The E. B. A. holds district meet ings each year, in addition to the national annual meet. Representa tives of schools in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia will attend the convention at Queens and Davidson. The general program to be followed is: a dinner at Queens College, Fri day evening, December 13, followed by a musical program from the combined music departments of Zinsser’s ^“^As I Remember Him” As I Remember Him: The Biog raphy of R. S.—Meaning Romantic Self—is not just another one of the “doctor books” which have flooded the reading public lately. Instead, it is a man’s journal, which gives stimulating accounts of science and also expresses a great philosophy. Hans Zinsser, a German-American Elizabethan (for such we believe he certainly may be called, as he is one of the most versatile twentieth-cen tury men about whom we have heard and is definitely filled with the spirit of what he hopes will lead to a new Renaissance) has written in a bio graphical style his own autobiography. He claims to be editing the story of a friend’s life, as the friend told it to him. In this way his remarks as editor enable him to criticize and comment, sometimes humorous ly, sometimes seriously, on the thoughts, mistakes, and events of his own life. The life recorded is of a Ger man-American. It is the life of a schoolboy, poet, teacher, interne, scientist, and philosopher. As you read, Zinsser takes you into Rus sia, Serbia, Japan, and China, where he lived to help others live. This book, chosen by the Book- of-the-Month Club as June’s out standing book, is extremely inter esting. It is one of our library”s newer books and deservedly one of the most popular. TERA BAILEY. We Choose By MacDonald Thanksgiving week-end will hear the roar of “Rah Rah Rah” for both winning and losing teams instead of the “Gobble Gobble” that will be heard in most farm yards the day before. Some of the football teams have already closed their season but sev eral big games remain to be played. Wake Forest meets South Carolina here in Charlotte on Thanksgiving day and the DEACONS are much favored over the weaker South Car olina team, fresh from a victory last week. The PRESBYTERIAN COLLEGE Johnsonmen should be victorious over Oglethorpe in their last battle of the grid season. Also, I am banking on WASHINGTON AND LEE to defeat Maryland, and NEWBERRY should prove to High Point her unmistakable ability. There are two games that are rather ques tionable in my mind (aren’t they all?) and so the outcome remains to be seen. First the traditional Duke-Pitt game should produce many thrillers and, I hope, find the ole BLUE DEVILS victors. Next The Citadel- Davidson toss up will find two greatly improved teams fighting for grid hon ors. I am hesitant to pick so may I leave it with the teams to decide for us ?
