DEEP WITHIN
Ah yes, another week—another
issue; so here we go again. The
K A Old South Ball has certainly
taken its toll—as if they minded
Mary Ann Hamilton and Jay Hal
came back loaded down with
favors and confederate flags. Jay
is still talking about Jack.
Mary Lou and Jan had quite
a big time at the K A function
also, not to mention MacFarlanc
and Jane Smith, Phoebe and Ail
leen. It’s good to be back among
magnolias, isn’t it, girls?
Valarie is still trying to be
true to her first love—Carolina—
but how can she when He is at
State—
Ann Woodson gave us all a
thrill last week-end when she
came in sporting that beautifu
diamond. Not wasting any time
either, is she? Congratulations
gal!
Marie McCravy and Celia made
a big hit at Clemson last week
end from all reports. Good times,
galore! ! !
Bootsy, Pugh, Jinx, and Mary
Long should form a club of some
sort. What happened to you
shouldn’t happen to a dog. That’s
o.k. girls, we’ll stick by you. Your
disgrace will only be temporary,
we assure you.
Sadie was feeling spry enough
to go out with Earl the day she
got back from Presbyterian. Wel
come back ! ! !
Pat Keesling took “Murray”
home to meet her folks—says he
made quite a hit.
Delores has been going home
more often lately. This Joe must
be quite a fellow.
Florence Ashcraft and her Gene
make a mighty nice couple, don’t
you think?
*
Who’s the new friend of Jack
ie’s? We hear tell he’s from
Laurinburg and plenty cute—He
must think Jackie is mighty fine,
too, because he was so taken by
her looks, he forgot to watch the
road and a Duke bus got in the
way. Better luck next time, Jack
ie.
Why was Ann MacFarland so
startled when the five til eleven
bell rang on Friday night?
We have a prospective airline
hostess in our midst—it couldn’t
have anything to do with that
cute pilot, could it, Nancy?
Hear tell that Rose S. has big
plans for this summer. Come,
Rose, ’fess up.
Katie and Dan had a fine week
end at the beach last week—so
fine, in fact, that Katie got
pinned. Nothing like a Kappa Sig,
eh, Katie?
Barbara Chipperfield’s “Mac”
thought she looked mighty “Chip
per” in her white bathing suit.
Faye, we hear you got quite an
epistle from Larry the other day.
Must have been quite a weekend
you had when council went on
retreat.
Ann Hunter has more beaus
than a few. Who’s the favorite as
of now, old girl?
Murphy Alexander made a trip
home this weekend to see her
“Mother.” Fess up, Murphy, who
is he?
We hear that “Bug” and Joyce
Chambless helped two Phi Delts
have a wonderful time at their
function. Keep up the good work
gals.
Shirley Siddall certainly rated
for her birthday—with not one
but two beaus gifting her.
Lillian certainly brought in an
uproar with her pin Friday night
and it was such a tiny pin, a
that ! ! !
Charlotte has suddenly decided
that there is no place like David
son and no one like the Pikas.
Jackie Stafford really gets the
calls from New York. Any expla
nation, Jackie?
Sara Clarie was doing some
etching in art lab, with the initial
“D” on the ash tray. Wonder what
the D stands for? Not Little, I
know ! ! !
We hear Jo is going to Lenior-
Rhyne this summer to summer
school, just to be near Charlie,
right Jo?
Carolyn Allen certainly can
throw some day dreams in Bible
Class every Monday morning. Af
fect your grades, yet ? ? ?
Where is it that Helen Dren-
nan’s going next week-end? Could
it be to Georgia Tech to see Jerry?
Two-timing Tom, aren’t you?
Mildred Hancock went home
with Cathy Orders and dated
another Jim. From all reports,
she sure had fun. Don’t get the
Jim’s confused, gal.
Ann Shiflet went to the dance
at State last weekend and had
one bang up good time, she says.
Aliena Doggett attended the K
A Ball in Raleigh last weekend,
also. More fun—floating on
clouds, etc.
Thelma went to Oak Ridge Sun
day. Dear ole Davidson just won’t
do, will it?

Beverly’s Jack was here too.
Pete Peterson took off on a bie

Virginia for one grand and glori
ous time too.
Benjie has broken a record at
Queens. She received five tele
phone calls in fifteen minutes
from the same boy. That’s a rec
ord ! ! !
Why was Spitty so disappointed
when the Harding High glee club
did not sing?
If a certain Betty Jean Mc-
Cutcheon doesn’t stop getting so
many letters from the University
of South Carolina, the postman
is going to have to start making
afternoon deliveries again.
South reports that it really is
nice to have the house president
take the week-end off once in a
while.
