Suessmuth Improves '' T' Suessmuth, Resident ^ Vlanager, was taken sick with a heart disturbance while attending ^^he annual meeting of the United 'States Chamber of Commerce in 'Washington, D. C., recently- Mr. ^Suessmuth has been active on the W aited States Chambers’ National ; Vffairs Committee. Fortunately, Mrs. Suessmuth i'vas with him at the time. He ^''as in Doctors Hospital under the j^are of, the best heart men in W^ashington. We received daily ^'eports from Mrs. Suessmuth, j^'ho was staying with her husband ■‘h the hospital and these reports 'have been most gratifying. Staff Bill 'Spruill, Assistant Comptrol ler under Comtroller E. Wahab Edwards, is being transferred lo the New York Sales Department. He has shown such fine pro gress in Caromount that the New York administration felt he could be developed into the Sales De partment of the company. All of his friends here will be sorry to see him go, but what will be our loss will be much to the company’s profit. We wish him well. Scout Troop 113 On April 25, 26, and 27th, eleven boys comprising two pa trols representing Troop 113 at the Annual East Carolina Boy Scout Camporee held this year in New Bern. The Cobra Patrol with Ron nie Hay as patrol leader won a blue ribbon, the highest award possible. The Flying Eagle patrol with Ronald Smith at the helm com piled a few less points than their brother patrol and received a red ribbons. This year’s camporee was one of the most rain-soaked affairs ever weathered by Boy Scouts in this area. Rough as it was, the scouts learned a great deal about camping and other fine points of scouting. They also found time between showers to have a lot of fun meeting the scouts from surrounding cities. Previous to the Camporee the troop welco:^-d t four new, boys, Ronald King, .(b)? Long, Randy Sutton and J. D. Privette, into their old. As : reward for their fine rec ord aJ the Camporee, the scouts ^ere treated to a weiner roast ut the Caromount Scout Cabin by Scoutmaster and Mrs. Neverson Lewis. The boys worked up a good appetite playing softball pre- viouSvlo the feed. Those present were: Ronnie Hay, Philip Bone, Philip Riley, Clemmie Queen, Ronald King, Ronald Smith, Kirk Haskins, Bil ly Griffin, Bobby Long, Randy Sutton, J- D. Privette, and Scout master Neverson Lewis. Variety And Minstrel Show A Huge Success The 1952 Variety and Minstrel Show was presented by the em ployees of the Caromount and Wil son Divisions to an audience of 500 Wilson citizens at the Char les L. Coon High School Audi torium on Wednesday, May 14. The Rocky Mount performance of the show was presented in the Rocky Mount High School Audi torium to a very enthusiastic audi ence of 400. Both performances met with very favorable comments. The coopera tive spirit and the enthusiam of the entire cast brought a smooth and entertaining performance to the audiences. The orchestra presented over tures for the show with Walter Greenman as pianist. Bill Spruill on the trumpet, Billy Williams on the trombone, Percy Joyner play ing the guitar and C. G. “Bill” Wil liams playing the drums. “Beer Parlor Mathematics” with Clayton Hedgepeth as Grea- 'y and Gene Pernell as iCinky,' and “‘Midnight Ride” with Charlie Laughridge as Paul Revere set the i audience in a mood of fun and laughter for the evening. Nellie Howell, Viola Walston, Marian Rivenbark and Dorothy Sturtevant received a favorable nod from the audience as they presented their two dance specialities. A skit entitled “The Long and Short of It” won loud applause with Jim Jenkins and Shorty Hamrick doing an excel lent job. Joyce Bennett and Lula Massey added their charm and beauty to this act.
