All of his children and grandchildren Were at home and the whole fam ily went to Wrightville Beach, Hat- ly teras, Nags Head and Carolina Beach. They had a wonderful itt being together, gjj Mrs, Ruth Reid entertained guests during her vacation. Her grandson, Allen Reid, Jr., his grandmother, Mrs. John Huff of Philadelphia and Mrs. Huff’s sis- g. ter, Mrs. Zoepke and her husband and son, Billy of the U. S. Mrs. Nona Rucker and family spent a weekend at Carolina Beach. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Joyner spent the entire week of their vacation at White Lake. They got a cot tage to themselves so they could have a complete rest and so the children could enjoy themselves. Piftli Birthday Little Billy Whitley, son of Mrs. Mary Lena Whitley, celebrated his fifth birthday, July 11, 1952 with a party for many of his little friends. Ice cream, cake and drink were served and balloons were given as favors. Cleo and Joe Johnson had a wonderful vacation trip. They traveled on Joe’s motorcycle to Asheville, on through the skyline drive and to the Cherokee Reserva tion to Roanoke, Va. and Wash ington, D. C. Mrs. Polly Davis and family spent some time at Cape Hatteras, N. C. Tiny, Julia and Kay Sutton va cationed for a few days at Vir ginia Beach and visited some old friends, Mr. and Mrs. Foy High in Norfolk. Vacation News The saying “Scattered to the four winds” was as true this year as it has been in previous years at vacation time.—To the North went Mac Overman returning with some nice pictures of New York City. . . .Myrtle Speight was up along Skyline Drive and into Washington, D. C. . . .Shortly be hind her were Mr. and Mrs. James Hamm who came back to New Market and Endless Caverns. . . . Next in line on Skyline Drive was Paul Coley and family. . . .Then the T. T. Bone family. . . .Heading South were Rebecca and Chester Johnson, touring Eastern Florida. Especiallv lovely were the scenes around Miami Beach. . . .West ward the Mantooths, Lee and Mil lard visited Lee’s brother stationed at Chanute Field and also Chica go. The new Pontiac made the trip a pleasure. . • .Ruth Poland s])ent some time in Newport News and Gatesville, N. C. . , .East down to Carolina Beach was Lu cille Barnes and Hazel Brown. Carroll and Willis Batton vaca tioned at Atlantic Beach. . . .Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Haddle were at Virginia Beach. . . .Miss Lessie Bowden went to Luray and Roa noke, Va. and on to Natural Bridge by the Skyline Drive. . . .Dixie and Steve Pope visited relatives in Durham. . . .Ruby and Leroy Cambell went to Carolina Beach. . . .Robert Skinner and family to Richmond. ... Fishing Estelle and Lancey Winstead went fishing at Hoboken. . . .Eddie Stancil did some fishing at At kinson’s Mill Pond. . . .H. W. Combat Heat With Salt Excessive loss of body salt through perspiration is the chief cause of heat sickness. This can be remedied by replacing the salt. The most convenient method is to take salt tablets. Special pro- cessess have been developed where by each salt crystal in the tablet is coated. When swallowed this tablet disolves slowly after reach ing the stomach and does not cause the nausea and digestive disorders usually noticed with the taking of plain salt. These special salt tablets have been placed throughout the mill near water fountain. It is re commended that these tablets be taken four to six times daily de pending on the need. Morrison went fishing and had some real good luck.. . .Lonnie Lamm and Jack Thompson fished at Columbia. . . .Lucille and Wim- pey Cook had real good luck fishing, but had a little trouble with the game warden. . . .Mrs_,. Margaret Sellers has been enjoy ing the deep sea fish her hu^and caught. - . Hospitalized Buckie D. Joyner has been hos- nitalized at Memorial Hospital. We hope he will be back soon.
