Ocie and Louise Matthews spent part of their vacation at Nags Head . . . Lancy and Estelle Winstead went to Hohoken, Chowan River and Fayetteville during vacation week . . . Mrs. Katie Moore staved at home house cleaning. Arthur and Nannie Haddle di vided their vacation week between Carolina Beach, Blue Ridge Moun tains and Roanoke, Virginia . . . Herman and Juanita Rose visited relatives in Lumberton and Nor folk . . . Mavis and Narvin God win went to Ocean View, Buck- roe Beach and Johnston County. Lonnie and Alma Lamm went to Rock City, Tennessee and Cherokee, North Carolina, where they saw “Unto These Hills” . . . Olivia and Alex Nelms stayed at home all week and rested . . . Lucille and Richard Eason spent their vacation at Luray, Virginia, and White Lake. Mrs. Carrie Joyner visited her son in Washington, D. C. . . • Marvin Viverette went fishing but had very little luck . . . Ora Lee Ward spent the week at home resting up ... Herbert and Lina Clark went to Portsmouth, Vir ginia, and White Lake . . . Mrs. Margaret Cockrell spent several davs in Roanoke, Virginia, and the Smoky Mountains. Lucille and Wimpey Cook spent their vacation at Chowan River, Morehead City and Core’s Creek ... Miss Lessie Bowden spent some time in the Blue Ridge Mountains, visited Blowing Rock, Asheville and Cherokee, where she saw “Un to These Hills'’...Sam and Lettie Weaver went fishing to Chowan River and Hoboken...Minnie and Darwin Burnette spent their vaca tion at home resting...Mrs. Clarice Cawthorne went to Fayetteville last week...Ruby and Lacy Williams went fishing at Scuppernong river and Gardners Creek. Selby Baker and family went to Carolina Beach . . . Thelma and James Long stayed home because of the illness of Mrs. I-,ong3 mother who is now out of the hospital re cuperating nicely . . . Jacob Vick staved at home and v/orked. births Mr. and Mrs. Ronel Powell announce the birth of a son, Wil liam Earl, on Jul. i, 1953, at Carolina General Hospital. Mr. Powell is employed at the Wil son Ui%^ision. Mrs. A1 Inscoe' (Mending) and children, Al, Jr., and Wanda Sue and Lynn Inscoe, daughter of Jack Inscoe, had the above pic ture taken recently while visiting the Waterside theatre at Man- teo. Mending Reports We wish to welcome two new employees to this department. They are Seabury Thorp of 634 Sunset Avenue and John Boice Joyner of Middlesex. John was transferred from the shipping de partment. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Brock and daughter, Frankie, spent the holi days at Atlantic Beach. They at tended the races while there and had a wonderful time swimming and resting. Mrs. Frances Pullen spent four days of her vacation in Raleigh with her daughter . . . Mrs. Rosa Vester and her daughter and son- in-law spent the week at Kures Beach . . . Mr. and Mrs. Al In scoe and children spent the holi days at Manteo and Nags Head. They attended the Lost Colony and had a very enjoyable vaca tion. Warping Dept Mrs. Retha Kermon a;'>d fami ly spent their vacation at Caro lina Beach. Mrs. Kermon return ed with a beal’t’^ d tan and she did not ge^ burned or blistered. Mr. and Mis. Lawrence Fer rell spent two weeks in Texas and California. Mrs. Claudia Dot.ehli*^C l-rother Mrs. Lessie Morgan and family spent their vacation in the moun tains of western North Carolina and Tennessee. They visited Grandfather’s Mountain, Mt. Mit chell, Smoky Mountains and Rock City. They had only one week. Mr. and Mrs. Will Young and grandson, Barry, divided their va cation time between Norfolk, Vir ginia, Atlantic Beach, and Greens boro, North Carolina, visiting rela tives. Mrs. Mandy Coats made a trip to Buggs Island and then visited with friends in Raleigh, North Carolina. Luther Cuddington and ' family spent some time at Atlantic ^nd Minnesot Beaches and had a nice time fishing. Mrs. Iris Pridgen and family tried out their new car by making a trip to Pamlico - . . Mrs. Nellie Baker enjoyed part of her vaca tion at White Lake . . . Mrs. Nora Parker sp.mt some time at More- head . . . Mrs Kathleen Baxley* spent her vacation getting ac quainted with her young grand daughter. Romeo and Willard Cooper (Weaving) spent some time fish ing at Norfolk. They brought David Coilins from Texas, spent a w'eek ^vith her. She w'as very glad to see him. W. A. Baxley went to Wilson to see the new addition to the Wilson Division, now^ under con struction . . . Roger Joyner spent four days of his vacation at Jim my Roberson’s camp on the Inland Waterway near Shallotte. The fishing was good . . . J. P. Mor gan stayed at Virginia Beach from Thursday night through Sunday morning of his vacation week. Mrs. Edna Mae Evans visited friends in Windsor and Norfolk for several days . . . Mrs. Ruby Bunn caught a few fish in Yeopim Creek. Most of them were so small they were returned home. She and her husband also went to Whichards Beach for one day. Mrs. Grace Pate recently visit ed relatives in Mount Olive . . . Mrs. Naomi Stancil went to Caro lina Beach for several days. She also stayed at Holdens Beach for one day . . . Mrs. Thelma Snead visited relatives and friends in Mebane and Burlington . . . Mrs. Dorothy Doyle and family visited her husbands family and relatives in Westover, Maryland. Mrs. Myrtle Howell and family spent the week at Pamlico fishing and relaxing . . . William Barnes and family stayed home and took it easy . . . Polly Hall and daugh ters enjoyed their vacation at New ton Grove and White Lake. Mrs. Agnes Proctor and family visited friends in Atlanta, Ga., then came back to Chattanooga, Tennessee, through the Great Smoky Mountains, into the Cher okee Reservation. They had a very enjoyable trip. Ira Thompson spent part of his vacation at Morehead. . . Mrs. Janie Alexander and family spent their vacation at Pamlico.
