At the suggestion of a large
number of our readers we are
planning to bring to you some
notes about some of the people
who have been graduated from
Lincoln High School.
Norman Barbee of the class of
’47 was graduated with honors
from North Carolina College in
Durham this year. He is doing
graduate work at Howard Uni
versity now.
Riley Barnette of the class of
’47 was also graduated from North
Carolina College and he is teach
ing in Illinois.
A large number of the members
of the class of 1951 have entered
various colleges this fall; Reuben
Williams is at Tennessee State;
William Burnett, our former edi
tor, is at Virginia Union Univer
sity; Bruce Atwater, Shaw Uni
versity; William Hargraves,
Hampton Institute; and Ernest
Weaver and Alfred Perry, A. &
T. College in Greensboro.
The largest group from the class
of 1951 is attending North Caro
lina College in Durham. The
group includes Vivian Swain,
Margaret Battle, Delores Hogan,
Johnnie Mae Jones, Mary Louise
Stroud, Alice Page, Georgia Mc
Coy, Samuel Atwater, Mary Nor
wood, and Mathew Mason. Six
of these students are already
members of the North Carolina
College Band.
Addie Mae Winstead of the
class of ’51 was married on Sep
tember 22.
