My Estimation Of
Possessing A Band
I think it is a great oportuni-
ty to possess a band. Many child
ren at other schools don‘’t have
the opportunity to possess one.
Many students of various schools
don’t know how to appreciate
music. The main reason for this
is that they don’t have a band.
You should be proud of your
band and support it.
We are also fortunate to have
Mr. J. Y. Bell as our bandmaster
of the Lincoln High School
Band. He is a generous, under
standing, and even-tempered
man. All the band members like
and respect him. You should also
be proud of him.

The Girls’ Council
The Girls’ Council of the
seventh, and eighth grades met
on Wednesday afternoon. We
elected officers. The following
persons were elected as officers:
Cedonia Atwater, President;
Peggy Vickers, Vice President
Malissia Farrington, Secretary;
Shirley Reavis, Assistant Secre
tary; Carolyn Brewer, Reporter.
Mary Mason was elected the
girl of the month. The seventh
A class is very glad to have her
the GIRL OF THE MONTH.
Mary Mason possesses all the
qualifications necessary to win
this title. She is also one of our
best athletes. Our bandmaster
says she is developing into a
great musician. There is some
thing about her that causes ev
eryone to like her. Our class is
honored to have as a member
a student like Mary.

Spring
When we started to school it
was autumn. The leaves were
falling from the trees; the grass
es were turning pale; it was just
a dying world. Then winter
came on first wdth frost and
freezing weather. Then the
ground was covered with " a
blanket of snow. Children were
having a glorious time sleigh
riding. Now spring has begun all
over again. Birds are singing;
bees are buzzing; and the trees
are blooming where they were
killed by snow', freezing rain and
frost,
Thl^owers are blooming of
different celors and the trees
are, alT green again.-It is a beau-
tiful.^season of ' the year—
SPRING.

Thanks
A few weeks ago I was a
patient at Lincoln Hospital, in
Durham, North Carolina. During
the time I spent there my teacher
and classmates were very nice
to me. The boys and girls in my
class made me feel very happy.
I w'ish I could give each of them
a gift. I cried for joy when I re
ceived the many letters and “get
well cards”.
When I came home my teach
er and class continued to bring
me lovely gifts and cards.
I am happy to be in school
again and I hope I can stay for
the rest of the year.
I want all of my schoolmates
to know that I have the kindest,
nicest, and most thoughtful
teacher and classmates in the
whole school.
