Barbara is at present the Alumni editor of the Echo. Other results of the election are as follows; Assistant Editor, Ida Battle: Staff Reporter, Martha Norwood; Assistant Staff Reporter, Doretha Merritt; Business Manager, Allen Mason; Assistant Business Mana ger, Wallace Oldham; Secretary, Druscilla Clarke; Assistant Secre tary, Deborah Norwood. Other positions on the staff will be filled by the persons selected by the staff and the advisory committee at the first staff meet ing next term. The Junior-Senior Prom The annual Junior - Senior Prom, a very colorful and enjoy able affair, was held April 30, 1954 in the Lincoln High School cafeteria. ' The decoration followed the theme “Stardust in The Garden.” Beautiful trellises were built over the entrances. Around the walls of the cafeteria was rock wall with pretty flowers growing here and there. The top was decorated with a sky with millions of stars shining down on the garden. Hanging from the sky were color ful lanterns. Garden chairs were placed along tHe rock wall. Toasts were made by the fol lowing members of the junior class: Arnold Harris, Gloria Vick ers, Martha Norwood, Barbara Burnette, and Alicia Jones during intermission. Robert Winston of the senior class gave a toast of thanks to the juniors. Mr. Norfley Whitted, a well known announcer of W.D.N.C., Durham, N. C. serv ed as toastmaster of the evening. Juniors and their guest were in troduced by the toastmaster. Class songs were sung by the junior and senior classes. The music was furnished by the Rhapsodians of Greensboro, N. C., who proved to be up-to-date mu sicians. The refreshments, were served by the sophomore class, who rendered their services very gra ciously. Souvenirs were also pre sented by members of the sopho more class. Pictures were taken by Mr. Stanback and his assistants of Durham, N. C. Alicia Jones Thirty-Two Seniors Are Graduating Thirty-two students are to be graduated from Lincoln High School at the thirtieth com mencement exercises to be held at Northside School auditorium, Thursday, June 3rd at eight o’clock p. m. The following persons are to be graduated: Eugene Atwater, Harvey Burnette, Ralph Bynum, Joe Caldwell, Louise Carver, Cle- tus Clark, Ernestine Cole, Venus Edwards, Catherine Foust, Alyce Hargraves, Wayman Hargraves, Annie Jones, Marilyn Lawrence, Joe Morgan, Rufus Minor, Grade Nevilles, Margaret Nevilles, Betty Noel, Elaine Norwood, Loomis Pendergraph, Ernestine Powell, James Perry,- Robert Parrish, Mamie Sanford, Marion Smith, Ruth Strowd, Prince Taylor, Robert Winston and Jean Wright, Eddie Cotton. The Commencement program will consist of a pageant entitled “How Shall I Go,” which will carry out the theme, “Seeking the Right Road”. Robert Winston will deliver the Validictorian address and Alyce Hargraves will deliver the Salu- tatorian address. May Queen Crowned During the intermission of the Annual Spring Ball, held May 12, 1954 in the Lincoln High School Cafeteria, Ernestine Cole was Crowned May Queen, by Robert Winston, President of the Student Body. The annual Spring Ball is given each year by the Student Council. Refreshments were served by Miss R. P. Pope and members of the home economics classes.
