Chapter IV
By MARTHA NORWOOD
Delores runs desperately to
ward her guardians’ car, un
aware that the strange object
which .had landed in her back
yard was moving rapidly with
out a sound right behind her.
The very instant that Delores
reached the car w-here her aunt
and uncle sits stunned, a strange
thing happens to the peculiar
object. The sides of it changes
into enormous fangs and quick
ly clutches Delores, her aunt and
uncle and the car within its
fangs and closes them up within
its gruesome figure. Then a split
I second .... and the object of
weirdness and evil had turned
to two of the same kind and size.
I Then they turn and continue
: down the .highway toward Chap-
■ el Hill destroying everything in
j their path.
' Meanwhile, the people in
Chapel Hill are totally unaware
I of what is in store for them. To
' them it is simply anot.her day.
But the peace and quiet does
not last for long because the air
is soon filled with screams of
horror. The monsters have evad
ed Chapel Hill and within a few
minutes nothing is left of Chap
el Hill except a few crumbling
ruins.

They continue in their path
of destruction on and on,
increasing in number by the sec
ond until they reach California,
1 a ■ building falls over, there
is a thundering cras-h and Wil
liam P. Dangiel, one of Amer
ica’s foremost astrologist finds
himself lying on the floor be
side .his bed wiping perspiration
from his forehead. He rises
quickly and walks to the win
dow to see if he were dreaming
or if it had all been real. “Ev
erything looks okay outside” Jre
remarked to himself. He then
went over to his table where he
had been recently studying maps
of outer space. He spreads the
maps out before him. They lay
there on the map in their posi
tions, Mars, Saturn, Pluto, and
all the others. Mr. Dangiel
stands looking at them wonder
ing .... are they inhabited? If
so, how far advanced? Are they
planning to envade the earth?
If so, are they on t.heir way here
now?
So, on it goes, the one thought
which constantly remains in the
minds of our wise men of to
day—CAN IT BE POSSIBLE?
THE END.

Goodbye To
Lincoln High
By ALBERTA JONES
Parting is such sorrow and we
hate to say goodbye;
But the time has come for us to
part with dear old Lincoln
High;
We will never forget our Prin
cipal who helped us along
the way;
And we will never forget our
dear teachers who in our
minds will always stay.
When we were in our freshman
year high sc.hool to us was
new;
But when we became sopho
mores our knowledge swift
ly grew;
Last year when we were juniors
we thought we were a cinch;
But we really changed our
minds after a few hard days
in Frenoh.
Our senior year sped so fast it
was hard for us to believe
That our four years were over
and it was time for us to
leave.
We worked hard to get this far
and we wish to say to yoa.
Freshman, sophomores, and ju -
iors too;
Work hard and true with pa
tience and with strife
And there you will in turn have
a more successful life.
Though after we had sorrows
and sometimes we had tears
We still had fun that we will
cherish thoughout the many
years.
