As it has been some time
siace I have written to the
paper, I will again pen a few
lines, as I feel it my duty to
do so. My subject to be the
duty of Christians:
We, as Christians, should
let our lights so shine that
others seeing our good works
may be constrained to glorify
our father in heaven. We
should dwell together in uni
ty, visit the sick and widows,
and ever lend a helping hand
to the poor and needy. We
should urge those who are
out of Christ to accept him
their Savior. We should
go out on the highways and
compel those who are out of
Christ to come and be saved;
for we realize the time is fast
approaching when we will
have to stand before the judg
ment bar of God and give an
account for the deeds done in
the body. If we have been
been faithful, obedient child-
t en, we will have an entrance
into the kingdom; when on
the other hand, it we have
been disobedient, instead of
enjoying the blessings of
heaven we will be ushered In
to everlasting punishment
Stop and think, just one little
word, “Eternity,” and where
are yon going to spend it?
CDVtul'uiu&T ucgiu
of God, and if it first begins
at us, what shall the end of
those be who obey not the
gospel of God. "If the right
eous scarcely be saved, where
shall the ungodly and sinner
appear?” How many are
there of us who are preparing
to meet our Savior in peace?
“Ilow can we escape if we
neglect so great salvation?”
We should take advantage of
the blessings and privileges
that we are allowed to enjoy,
but I fear that we, or a great
number of us, are laying up
our treasures in this world,
for where our treasures are
our hearts are there also.
When limes ofefll ctionscome
to Christians, a few words
fitly spoken are often times a
great help. Let us pray God
to awaken us to a sense of
our duty before it is too late,
“Come unto me ail ye that
labor and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest.”
Since the way of salvation is
so plain, why do you reject it?
Christ says, “Not every one
that says, Lord, Lord, shall
enter in, but he that doeth
the will of my Father.
I trust the time will soon
come when we can see our
selves as God sees ns, and
May we say as the poet:
All to Jesus I surrender.
All to him I Ireely give;
I will ever love and trust him,
In his presence daily live.
Let us earnestly contend for
the faith once delivered to the
saints, and in all things give
thanks.
Asking an interest in the
prayers of God’s people, I am
yours for Christian progress.

AYDEN, N. C
I want to say a few words
about our church at Chris
tain Hill. We did not have
a pastor from Aug, till Dec.
although we made threecalls,
we got no pastor until the
last call. We called Bro John
Weaks, of Norman Park, Ga.
Bro. Weaks has preached for
us three times, and we think
we have a most excellent pas
tor In Bro Weaks. Brethren,
let us praise God for a good
sermon when we hear one. It
the Lord that does the
work, not the man. While
our prayers were going up to
God Saturday, Bro. Weaks
preached from the eleventh
chapter of Heb, The sermon
was a great feast to onr
souls. We find wbithout faith
it is impossible to please God,
for he that cometh to God,
must believe that he , is, and
that he is a rewarder of those
who dilligently, seek him. If
we go to the Lord for a bless
ing, and it does not come, let
us say, “it is not you Lord,
but the trouble is in me,” and
keep on praying. If we have
the faith, the blessing will
come. Jesus said, “If ye then
being evil know to give good
gifts unto your children, how
much more shall your heaven
ly Father give the Holy Spirit
the water and of the spirit.”
Read John third chapter.
When we recieve this blessing
It brings love, joy, and peace
to our souls, and we have no
more use for sin, if we hold
fast the faith. Are we like
faithful Abraham looking for
a city which bath foundation
whose builder and maker is
God?
Let us follow Jesus and be
ready for that home, he has
gone to prepare In the 14
Psalm, and the first chapter
of St. John. We read in this
lesson that John wasnotthat
light but was sent to bear
witness of that light. That
was the true light wlich
lighteth every man that
cometh into the world. So
we see that Jesus was the
true light. I will say a few
words about watch, It
means soraeebing. Let us
watch ourselves to see if we
live every day, as the Lord
would have us. Let us come
boldly unto a throne of
grace, that we may obtain
mercy, and find grace to help
in time of need.
Yours in.hope of heaven.
Annie L. Martin.

MACON F. W. BAPTIST ARE IN
NEED OF HELP.
True it is, and always has
been, that cheerfulness is
riches that cannot be tax
ed.—Ladies’ Home Journal.
Dear Brethren of the F.
W. B. Connection:—I resign
ed my charge iu Macon, Ga.
about Aug. 15, ’07. After
Evangelizing there for a term
of 12 months I supplied my
vacancy with Eld. W. C
[ones. Of course all experi
enced ministers know that to
build strong churches in a
ci^’y like Macon, Ga., means a
great deal of labor and no
little sacrifice on the part of
the preacher. I secured a
house and lot worth about
$1500 00. I secured an organ
valued at about $50 00. I
left about 72 members there
I have been appointed by the
Board of General Conference,
National Evangelist. Now I
can’t do pastorial work, and
at thesametimecarry tfaegos-
pel throughout the length and
breadth of this, the great
American continent.
To the many cbjirches who
write me, and who desire to
call me as pastor, I cannotdo
your work unless I resign my
appointed lot. Icanonlysetve
a church where It Is conven
ient for me to cvangel'ze
Eld, W. C Jones is in Macon
serving his appointment, as 1
learn, to the best of his abil
ity, I made two payments
on the church before resigning
charge, there is $175 00 still
due on the .church property.
Bro. Jones is not getting a
living there as best I can
learn. Let each church take
a collection for the church in
Macon, the central city of the
state, and send to me at Oak
Park, or Macon, or Eld. W.
C. Jones, Macon, Ga. Help
me take care of the work in
Macon. If I stay there and
pastor that church I can’t do
your National work, so I
want help to keep Bro. Jones
there, to keep the work going
on. Now, who will be the
first to help me prosper the
can send a liberal donation,
so can Ebenez^r, so can all
the churches. It you want
churches out of the back
woods, in the leading cities,
prove your faith by your
works. Help the work in
Macon, it is so much needed.
Pray too for the work, Will
say to the people of Taylor-
ville, Fla., if God is willing, 1
shall endeavor to visit Tay-
lorville soon. Will write sis
ter Lela Patterson and others
of Taylorville soon.
Pray for me and don’t for
get this request.
