(Woody) Mitchell of Prince ton, currently a student in Commercial De sign at Atlantic Christian College, was se lected as an intern with the State Depart ment of Natural Resources and Community Development for the summer. Woody worked with the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro designing brochures, etc. He re ceived an Associate degree in Commercial Art from JCC. Gail Smith O’Neil of Clayton, who earned an Associate degree in Commercial Art from JCC, has received a Bachelor’s degree in Commercial Design from Atlantic Christian College. John Arthur Konneker of Clayton, who holds an Associate degree in Commercial Art from JCC, has received a Bachelor’s de gree in Commercial Design from Atlantic Christian College. Carla Brown of Four Oaks married Mark Shawn Higgins on June 25. She is em ployed by Joseph C. Woodard Printing Co. in Raleigh. Business Miles Johnson of Four Oaks received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Atlantic Christian Col lege this spring. Brenda B. Batten of Smithfield was one of 331 successful candidates who completed the Uniform Certified Public Accountant Examination this spring. She was one of 1,179 people who qualified to take the exam. A native of Selma, she has been em ployed by Bobby J. Eason and Associates, a Smithfield accounting firm, for twelve years. At Johnston Community College, she re ceived an Associate in Applied Science de gree in Accounting. Lou Ellen Moore of Kenly received a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Office Education and Business Administration from Atlantic Christian College in Wilson. Debra Whitley of Route 3, Smithfield. who received an Associate in Applied Sci ence degree in Executive Secretarial Sci ence from JCC in 1987, married Noah Lee Blackman on June 18. She is employed by the withholding section of the NC Depart ment of Revenue in Raleigh. Gabriel (Gabby) Bradley of Route 3, Four Oaks, a JCC graduate with an Associate degree in Business Data Processing, is em ployed by the NC Department of Public Ed ucation in Raleigh. Valerie Delane Foster of Selma, who holds an Associate in Applied Science de gree in General Office Technology from JCC, married Jimmie H. Beaty on April 23, She is employed by C&K Components Inc. Sharon Gower of Route 3, Smithfield, was married to Donald Gene Creech on March 20. She is a 1987 graduate of JCC with a degree in Secretarial Science. She is a legal secretary for the law firm of Lock and Price of Smithfield. Karen Gower of Route 3, Smithfield mar ried Kenny Wayne Woodard on June 26. She is a 1987 graduate of JCC with a de gree in Secretarial Science. She is a legal se cretary for the law firm of Wilkins and Wel- lonsin Smithfield. Bruce A. Tart, Jr. of Princeton, who holds a degree in Business Administration from Johnston Community College, married Di anna Creech on June 4. He is employed by Casey Funeral Home and Florist in Prince ton. Marian Antoinette Seekins of Smith eld received a Bachelor’s degree in AccoJ;:'.ting from Atlantic Christian College in the -spring of this year. Nursing Lori Hayes of Four Oaks received a Bach elor’s degree in Nursing from Atlantic Chris tian College. On May 14 she was married to Michael McPherson, who is in the US Army. Lori is a registered nurse at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. Leigh Little Wilkins, RN, has been pro moted to Head Nurse in the Emergency Room at Johnston Memorial Hospital. Since her graduation from JCC, she has received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Uni versity of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Gail Reardon, RN, has received the Tri angle J Council of Government’s Award of Excellence. She received the award for her contributions to the improvement of emer gency medical care in the region. Gail, who is employed by Johnston Memorial Hospital in Smithfield, is certified in mobil intensive- care nursing and advanced cardiac life sup port. She teaches cardiopulmonary resusci tation from the American Red Cross and is an instructor in the Emergency Medical Technician training program at JCC. Gail teaches tele-communications for law enforcement officers within the six-county area of Triangle J. She is a full-time student at NC Central University in Durham, where she is working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. She lives in Four Oaks. Katherine Stephenson, RN 1980 at JCC, has been accepted at NC State University to work toward her Master’s degree in Health Education. She has already earned a Bach elor of Science degree from NCSU. General Education (Transfer Program) Christopher L. (Chris) Batten of Rt. 2, Selma, a 1986 graduate of JCC’s General Education program, graduated from UNC- Wilmington in May with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with emphasis in Criminal Jus tice. He was on the Dean’s List for the Spring Semester. While he was a student he served an internship with the Probation/Parole of fice in Smithfield. Chris is- employed by Williamsburg Woodcraft of Selma, where he is a sales man, office worker and craftsman for this new local enterprise. Sonja King of Clayton has graduated from Meredith College in Raleigh with a Bache lor’s degree in Home Economics. She re ceived an Associate in General Education degree from Johnston Community College in 1986 and transferred to Meredith as a jun ior. She has been employed as a recruiter for JCC. Victor Lee (Vic) Phillips of Clayton has earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Ad ministration from Atlantic Christian College. He was on the Dean’s List at ACC. Vic is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Curtis Phillips; Dr. Phil lips is Dean of Technical and General Edu cation at JCC. Vic graduated from JCC in 1987 and transferred to Atlantic Christian with advanced standing. Rhonda Staton of Pine Level, who holds an Associate degree in General Education from JCC, married Kenny Dale Johnson of Kenly on May 15. She is a graduate of At lantic Christian College with a Bachelor’s de gree in Intermediate Education. She is em ployed by Kids’ Country in Wilson’s Mills. Johna Starr Lee of Clayton, who trans ferred from the General Education program at JCC, was on the Chancellor’s List at East Carolina University for the spring semester. Students named to the Chancellor’s List make A’s on all their courses. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Middle-grades Edu cation from ECU this spring. She and Chris topher Parker of Four Oaks were married on June 20. He is a 1984 graduate of John ston Community College employed by Xerox of Raleigh. Betsy Bartholomew of Princeton married Michael Dale Bridgers on April 16. She was in the General Education program prior to transferring to East Carolina University, where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She is a second- grade teacher at Benson Elementary School. Jesse Franklin Woodard of Route 1, Ken ly, who was in the General Education pro gram at JCC before he transferred to East Carolina University, was named to the ECU Chancellor’s List for the spring semester. Wendy Nanette Simpson of Selma made the Dean’s List at ECU for the spring semes ter. She was in the General Education pro gram at JCC before she transferred to the Greenville university. Jeffrey Scott Parker of Route 4, Four Oaks, and Stephen Shane Wells of Clayton both made the Honor Roll (B average) at East Carolina University for the spring se mester.
