The North Carolina Community College Adult Educators Association VOLUME XVIII, NUMBER 2 Fall 1995 Message from Your President Dear Fellow Members, It is indeed a pleasure to serve as your president this year. I want you to know that I appreciate the opportunity and only hope that I'm up to the chal lenge. As always, there are important issues on the horizon that we will face dur ing the year. It will be important that the Board of Directors has your input, advice and support. As issues, questions and problems arise during the year, feel free to contact a member of your NCCCAEA Board. We want to hear your concerns, we may not be able to solve your problems, but we will listen and would like to try. Also, please take an opportunity to invite some of your co-workers that are not members to join the association. The Board has set a goal of600 members for the year and only with your support will we reach that goal. President, NCCCAEA Donald Buie Plans for the Fall and Spring Conferences are well on the way. President Elect Hans Aubuchon, Chairman Russ Sharpies (Fall) and Chairman Bill Adams (Spring) have their ducks in a row and well on the way to two super meetings. Hope to see you at the RTP Sheraton Imperial on Nov. 8-10. Remember, working together works! Welcome To The 1995 Fall NCCCAEA Conference We have planned over 40 workshops designed to update and inform you in all facets of Adult Educa tion. Also, we have some very special events in store. Lieutenant Governor Dennis Wicker, Chairman of the State Board of the Community College System, will deliver our keynote address. Following the Lieuten ant Governor will be Dr. Clifton Davis, the noted ac tor, author, composer and the star of the television series "Amen". Dr. Davis is Vice Chancellor for Plan ning and Development at Elizabeth City State Uni versity, and he will share his insights and perspectives into adult education. At the luncheon on Thursday, we'll salute Bobby Anderson, who has retired after many years of ser vice with the Community College System. And at breakfast on Friday, a program of music and song by Lisa Bamford, Miss North Carolina, will highlight a tribute to our nation's veterans. So, enjoy the conference and take advantage of the many different workshops offered. We hope you find the 1995 conference your most informative and rewarding ever. FYI * * At the July Board Meeting the issue of refunds for conference registration and meals was addressed and acted upon. The new procedure for refunds is as fol lows: Request for refund of conference registration and meals must be received by the treasurer no later than 5 work ing days prior to conference. * * If you have reserved a block of rooms at the Sheraton for the Fall Conference, please make sure that you will utilize all of them. If not please release unused rooms as soon as possible so that others can stay at the Sheraton as all rooms are booked at this time.
