Art Work to be
Displayed at
System Office
In November,
President Martin H.
Lancaster invited the
faculty, staff and
students of North
Carolina's
Community Colleges
to submit works of art for display in the System Office
Building (Caswell Building) through 1998. Hundreds of
submissions poured in from 35 colleges, filling several slide
trays and dozens of file folders.
Selections are now complete, artwork is arriving at the
Caswell Building, and installation will begin
shortly. An informal reception for the artists, college
presidents and the state board will be held in
mid-March. President Lancaster reported the following
to the State Board at its January meeting in
Raleigh: "At my invitation, more than 150 artists from 35
colleges submitted art works in all media
for consideration to be placed in these areas for one
year. I have personally chosen approximatety
70 pieces of art of all kinds to brighten the atmosphere
and enhance the spaces where we all work
and where so many visitors come each day. This also
will be a graphic reminder of the talent which
exists across our System."
