Billie Jones and Jimmy Collum were his only guests. After a fall or so from a garden bench and a “knock-over'’ when Bilbo Jones arrived the little boys had their pictures taken, each sitting in his high chair, at the dainty table on which was the bir thday cake flanked with candles and roses. They wore sun suits of bright red and the setting was lovely with a background ot climb ing roses. SWIMMING PARTY Miss Nettie Cuthrell and Miss Lucille Smith honored their young niece and nephew, Ethel and Ray Smith of New Bern, with a swim ming party at the Community Hou se, Wednesday afternoon from four until six o’clock. After an hour of swimming weinies wera cooked over the open lire and supper ser ved picnic style. Later Miss Hazel Clark led the children in games. U. D. C. MEETING HELD Mrs. R. P. Morehead delightful ly entertained the Junius Daniel Chapter of the U. D. C. June 5th, the president presiding. The meeting was opened with Devotional Exercises. Fourteen members answered roll call. A collection of $7.00 was receiv ed for the benefit of the Re 1 Cross. A very interesting program was rendered as follows: Paper, by Miss Elizabeth Clark; Questions About Jefferson Davis, answered by Mrs. H. V. Bounds; “Jefferson Davis Highway” by Mrs. J. R. Johnson; Selections were read from a letter of President Gene ral. The guests were invited into the dining room where delicious punch and sandwiches were served by the hostess, assisted by Mrs. F. I. Many historic places were called to the attention of the del egates who will visit Boston Na tional Convention. The Home of Paul Revere is the oldest house in the city of Boston. "Our Flag” was read by Mrs. Joyner and the colors were explained. The red is for valor, zeal and fervency; The white for hope, purity, cleanliness of life; The blue, the color of hea en, for reverence to God, loyalty, sincerity, justice and truth.
