They should be considered as part of the meal and not as something extra. They can help in getting the "Basic Seven” foods daily if we will plan them so that they are not just “something sweet.” Fruit desserts are always good, whether served as they are. such as berries, sliced orange, peaches, etc., or canned. Cooked fruit in such forms as baked apples, fruit cobblers and fruit pies, are also very delicious and nutritious des serts. Desserts made with milk and eggs are especially valuable as they contribute to the protein in take. Also they are a good way to use the required amount of milk for the family, if they do not care to drink it. Peanut Butter Pie 3-2 c. sugar 2 Tbs. flour 1-4 tsp. salt 2 c. milk egg yolks 1-2 c. peanut butter Combine sugar, flour and salt. Add milk and stir until smooth. Cook in double boiler until it be- j gins to thicken. Pour over slightly oeaten egg yolks, stirring con ;tantly. Cook slowly until mixture •oats spoon.
