Bentert, a native of New Munster, Wisconsin, will spend a considerable portion of his time providing technical ajtsitance to the hosiery mills of North Caro lina anil will take a leading part in organizing and conducing group meetings for hosiery manufactur ers, Dean Campbell said. State Announces New Short Courses Raleigh, M®’ 10th — Short •' uras, designed to relieve the " 1 ones of engineers, scientists and production supervisors with . lecialized training for war-es sential employment, will begin at State College Monday, June 7th, it was announced today by Direct or Edward W. Ruggles of Engi neering Science and Management War Training at the College. ‘’The accelerated preparation of paricular types of specialists for specific activities in war in dustries is the aim of State Col lege'- war training program,” Di rector Buggies explained. “The Federal Government and war in dustries urgently need men and women with certain industrial skills, and State College is offer ing the new courses his summer at the behest of Uncle Sam,” the director pointed out. Both men and women, who are capable of performing academic work of college grade and who are willing to accept employment in war-aital tasks, meet the general requirtments for admission into the courses, Ruggles said. High school graduation or the equiva len in practical experience is the minimum educational require ment, he stated. The United States Office of Education will defray full cost of the courses approved in the pro gram, and the only cost to stu dents will be for room, board, and textbooks. Living expenses for a 12-week course range from $80 to $120, Director Ruggles esti mates. Courses to be taught include an hiteetural and marine drafting chemical testing and inspection, engineering drawing, and fabric testing and inspection. Classes will run for 12 weeks. Since the inception of the war training phase of the extension program in January, 1941, State College has conducted short courses for 12,011 citizens. In struction has been given in many subjects ranging from pre-radar to Diesel engineering. Full particulars may be ob tained by writing Director Rug Kies at State College.
