We, who have the re sponsibility of managing this busi ness, are aided in meeting that responsibility by your loyal effort. We welcome this opportunity to tell you so to send to you this Thanksgiving our thanks for all you have done to make this busi ness successful. In speaking of making this busi ness successful we are using the word in its broadest sense. For while a business must show a profit to continue and endure, there is much more to it than that. We want this business to be suc cessful in being, and continuing to be, a good place to work. Successful in having, and keep ing, good feeling and trust between all of us who are in this organ ization. Successful in giving full value and service to our customers— those who buy from us and whose continued goodwill makes it pos sible for this to be a going insti tution where we can all earn a livelihood. We encourage everyone to attend and enter into a period of good fellowship and fun. Because of the December holi day, the next edition of “The Messenger” will.^not come out un til the end of January. Community Radio Council Gets Underway The Community Radio Council has at least become a reality after many months of planning and or ganizing. The primary purpose of the council is to interpret the com- munity to. the--community and en able people of High Point to pa- ticipate in their own programs. It further has as its purpose the related one of developing listener interest in educational radio gen erally. The council plans to write and produce shows for all of the High Point social agencies. It will be able to co-operate with the hospi tal by a series of broadcasts arous ing interest in the community’s need for better hospitalization. Planned also are transcribed broadcasts for use in all local ele mentary schools, and a Junior Town meeting of the air which will use students from the Junior, Sen ior and William Penn High Schools. Eventually High Point hopes to put a radio in each school room— but until that time, the Commu nity Radio programs will be heard over your home radio. A pro gram for grammar school children has already been started and these programs can be heard over W. M. F. R. every Monday night from 8:15 to 8:30.
