SMTHFIELD HIGH TIME,S IK'm OPINION Mr. Benton and Mr, Markham should be commended on the excellent results of our Science Exhibit, We need an additional trophy case. The class of *47 gave the one we have, ^iHiy couldn’t the class of *58 give another one? The bulletin boards could be taken down and a large one construct ed between the two trophy cases. It does seem that if our teams went to a3.1 the trouble to win the trophies we could at least get something to keep them in. In the meantime until something is done about this problem, the least we can do is keep our books from the top of the case. The first thing v;e know one of those precious trophies is going to be broken, lirs, Wallace did a wonderful job directing the Glee Clubs for the Contest, She Drought forth the Confidence that was heeded under such trying circumstances. I’m sure we would ^II like to express our appreciation to her, •JBBBBBHBBBBBBB^HBBi- Did you notice the woMerful Cheering section of Tri-Cityts (Morehead) ^ suppose you saw that they were all together. You want to know wl^? Because ft Sii followed the Head Cheerleader, ^mithfield nas the potential for such a ^^relous cheering section. The cheer- eaders did their best. But how in the crid can you expect them to do anything p all when everybody and their brother Or sister, as the case may be) are cing something different. Of course, it ca 1 ^ late this year, but next year 1,. ‘W'e do better? If everybody ^culd'be quiet until the Head starts a cant, then everybody coiild join in, | The witers of this year’s ¥orld Peace Speeches should be commended. They were all excellent, Kenneth is to be congratulated for winning second place in the County Contest, ^PBHHBBBBBBBBf-XSBBBf I suppose by now you’ve noticed that this month we are using music for our theme, while we used poetry last time, ye feel that by doing this we can raise the High Times to a high school level, by cutting out some of the silly, useless articles printed in the past. It would be appreciated very much if you would express your views about our partial "renovation” personally to me or yoixr future editor as soon as possible. Editor HURRAY FOR THE CHEERLEADERS | Not only do we have a first-rate boys ’ basketball team, but we have some cheerleaders who are tops J For how far could our team have gone without faithful cheerleaders and rooters backing them all the way? Also, I would like to say S,H,S, had better sportsmanship this season than in pars past. There I think again you cp give the cheerleaders most of the credit. It seemed wonderful to have all the cheerleaders this year very cooperative "^.dth each other plus the crowd. Next year let’s remonber the chief cheerleader has the sole responsibi lity of choosing the yells or songs to be used. Let’s respect the chief cheerleader enough not to start cheers of our own without her consent. It sounds unrefined lor two or three groups to be doing different cheers at one time. So we can spe that moment of embarrassment by simply following the chief cheerleader. So let’s give fifteen rahs for the fine ' pb tne cheerleaders have done this year. Rah I Rah* ^
