The Tonmy Gardner Memorial Football
Sportsmanship Trophy was awarded this
year to Joey Overby. He was also the
recipient of the Monogrrim Club Trophy
for”the most outstanding male athlete"
for 1962.
Anne Cheatham mid Sue Hooks shared
the honor for "the most outstanding
female athlete" trophy from the Mono
gram Club, Joey, Anne, and Sue were
honored at a recent Boosters Club meet
ing where Earl Edwards, football coach
at State College, spoke.
ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP
Jesse Parrish has won a basketball
scholarship to Louisburg Junior College,
He will receive $300 the first year and
$500 the second year.
This year, Jesse was tri-captain
of the basketball squad, and led the
scoring with 3B0 points, and an average
of 17.3 points per game. He had been
offered a scholarship to Wingate College
also.
Robert Rabil set a new conference record
for the 880 yd, run: 2 minutes, 7 second^.
Curtis Whitehurst, one point; Billy
Carroll, 3 points; Bill Sutton, 13/4
points.
BASEBALL
During the baseball season which
has just ended, Snithficld won seven
games and lost seven. Our total runs for
all games was 85, while our opponents made
68. S. H. S. had IO6 hits for the season,
and her opponents had 79 hits. Snithfield
