HARVARD SCHOL/iR
Recently, Dewey Lawson received
a letter from Harvard University stating
he had been chosen as a Harvard Scholar
which is one of the biggest honors that
can come to a freshman at this outstand
ing institution of higher learning. This
recognition came to Dewey because of his
fine high school record, his high score
on the college entrance examination,^
and his unusual record of extra-curricular
activities, A substantial scholarship
is an important part of this honor.
We are all proud of Dewey, We know
that he will justify the confidence
that Harva,rd has placed in him and that
he will make an outstanding record there.

ANNUALS
A rush of clammering feet was heard
in the halls of S.H.S. on Hay 8, as the
3:25 bell rang. A rumor had been heard
among the students that the long awaited
annuals had arrived. At the end of 6th
period, the announcement was made that
all students were to return to their
homerooms, Yes, the annuals were here.
This was a day everyone would remember.
We know that much work and time had to
be given by those ^o worked on the
1962 "Shield". Our congratulations go
to the editors, Etewey Lawson and Bill
Taylor, and to the others who had a part
in making this a day to remember - an
annual to cherish and a year brou^t
back through pictures. Our hats are off
to you.
