On May l6, the annual athletic
awards program was given in
Charles Wilkins, president of the Mon -
gr£Fi Club, was master of ceremonies.
The* progran began with the cheerleaders
leading the student boyd in a number of
our best cheers. This was followed by
skits performed ty members of the Mono-
tonV Cheatham sang "Take Me Oit to
the Ballgame”. Barrett Warrick sang
’'It Could Be lou".
This was followed by a skit in
which various members of the Monogram
Club repres0ited certain girls as^e
ball players while playing in ^ game.
These girls were called to the stage
by Billy Upchurch who announced that
”It Could Be limy
Some of the football players demon-
strcited just how these wonderful
trips” usually are, and how their coach
treats them.
After the skits, the follcwing
seniors who have been given college
athletic scholarships were recognized:
Dan Barefoot, a football sdiol^ship to
Davidson College; Jeffrqy William.s,
a football scholarship to Clemson College
and Jesse Parrish, a basketball scholar
ship to Louisbim-g College,
Athletic certificates were then
presented by Coach Brown and Coach
Temple to those lettering m
and junior varsity football and basket
ball, track, and baseball.
The program ended with the announ-*-
ment of the new cheerleaders who are
selected fiom the sophomore girl^ihe^
are Pam Jordan, Gayle Johnston, Sima
Alice Aver a, and Jemy Wilson.

givm a trophy case to the Snithfield
High School in mscory of their son,

Tommy graduated from our h:^h school
with the class of 195S. He had ju^
.completed the freshman year at
Forest College. He was one of our finest
young men. He was admired, re spec ® ^

He participated in football dunng his
high school career and always displayed
the finest of geod sportsmanship.
The trophy case has been ordered
and it is expected to be here soon, it
will be a fitting memorial to Tonmy,
