Statewide, the patrol, the Department of Transportation and with help from the motoring puhlie, hopes to make everyone aware that eups, boxes, bags anti papers thrown from vehicles- makes our state look like a trash dump. Trash on the road destroys the beauty of the landscape and costs the state and cities millions of dollars for clean-up. Also, trash pollu tion in our streams is degrading our drinking water supply. Gov. Jim Hunt recently issued an executive order, Clean NC 2000, to make the public aware of the problem and to give citizens a way to help. In bedell County and across the state, patrol cars will fly green ribbons on their antennas, reminding the public of the Bag-A-Bug and the Clean 2000 pro gram.
