Ticket Sales Begin For The 2000-2001 Performing Arts Series The Children’s Museum of Iredell County will begin ticket sales for the 2000-2001 Performing Arts Series Monday, Sept. 11. Last year’s series was attended by over 6500! This year a sixth production has been included. The Grey Seal Puppets will lead off the series with “The Halloween Monster Show,” Oct. 19. Charlotte’s award-winning puppets will pro vide some frightfully entertaining Halloween fun. This 45-minute production will feature a variety of fascinating fantasy creatures. The Tarradiddle Players will per form “The Prince and the Pauper”, Nov. 2. This Charlotte theatre troupe is consistently sold out. This year’s performance will allow the audience to learn what it is to “live in someone else’s shoes.” Theatre IV returns again on Dec. 5 with “Santa’s Christmas Miracle” and February 20 with “A Woman Named Truth.” Nationally recog nized by the Children’s Theatre Association of America, Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and National Endowment for the Help Litter Sweep Cleanup The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) 2000 Litter Sweep cleanup will take place Sept. 17-30. Litter Sweep is a two-week period each fall dedicat ed to cleaning our highways and protecting the environment and beauty of North Carolina. Local organizations are encouraged to participate by organizing a road side cleanup group. Community involvement is essential to making the cleanup a success. Cleanup is a time when local gov ernments, civic organizations, NCDC >T employees, community service work ers, churches, schools, inmates and concerned citizens work as a team to make North Carolina a cleaner and better place to live! The Governor has issued a procla mation naming Sept. 17-30, 2000 Litter Sweep time in the state. (All Mondays TOPS meets at 6 p.m.jn the educational building at Broad Street UMC. Musicians are encouraged to bring their instruments and join in the jam sessions. To enter, complete the form from the high way department and return it with a photograph of the unusual litter. Include the name of the person or persons who found it. Your local NCDOT maintenance office will provide you with orange safety vests, orange trash bags and blue recycling bags for use during the cleanup. Also, NCDOT county maintenance yards will pick up filled orange bags from any state road. After your cleanup call your local maintenance yard and let them know the number of bags to be picked up and where they are located alongside a state road. EnergyUnited Schedules Annual ivieeung And Health Fair For Members EnergyUnited’s annual meeting will be Saturday, Sept. 16 at Davie County High School in Mocksville. A free health fair for members will be conducted in the small gym between 7:30 and 10:30 a.m. The health fair will offer a number of free screenings as well as health information. Members of the electric co-op will receive a $5 attendance award when they register and cast their ballot in the board of directors election. This year, members will elect six directors.
