Volume 4, Number 38 • 32 Pages Lily Pads I r’s nice to be a winner and it is with great pleasure we tell you the Citizen did it again, in the North Carolina Press Assocation Editorial and Photojournalism Contest. First place in the Photography Feature category was taken by Bob Plyler for a front page and inside photo story of the Union Grove Fiddlers’ convention. Maggie Shoobridge’s story of Linney’s Mill, A Miller’s Tale, gave her a second place in feature writing. Her photo page of thinning >thc lily pads at Allison Woods gave her a third place award. In a special award, the entire Citizen staff was honored with second place recognition for the use of photographs in the paper. Since 1999, the Citizen has received honors in the state association. In 1999, it was for the use of photographs. In 2000, the paper was awarded third place for a photo illustration. The same year our advertising team and graphic arts department won second for the best retail ad and third place Jor.the, hest, . . DECEMBER 27, 2001 ads@iredellcitizen.com Published Weekly in the Crossroads of the Carolinas Earlier this year, our ad and graphics staff won two first place honors for the best motor vehicle ad and best home furnishings and appliances ad. In the weekly category, the Iredell Citizen competed against 91 other papers from all over North Carolina. We hope you are as proud of YOUR hometown paper as we are!
