Grandfather Mountain Reported Record High Temperatures in Novermber Grandfather MouNTAiN-The first two days of November will be remembered for record high tem peratures at the official US Weather Service reporting station on Grandfather Mountain, but die last two days will be remembered for cold, snow and high winds. The high temperature on November 1st of 67 degrees broke the previ ous record for that date of 65 degrees set in 1974. The reading of 68 degrees on November 2nd broke that day’s previous record daily high of 65 degrees set in 1971. Another record-breaking warm spell came through November 22 and 23. The reading of 63 degrees on the 22nd broke the previous daily high record of 57 degrees set on November 22, 1973. The high temperature of 59 degrees on die 23rd broke the earlier daily high temperature record of 56 degrees set November 23,1983. The average high temperature of 51 degrees was 4.91 degrees above normal for November and the average low temperature of 37.83 degrees was 5.96 degrees above normal for this time of yes. Total rainfall for November was 6.25 inehns, which was 1.89 inch es, or 43 percent, above the norm. Total rainfall for the year-to-date is 65.78 inches, which is 7.11 inches, cn 12 percent, above normal far this point in the year.
