The Iredell Blues is a part of the North-South Skirmish Association (N-SSA), formed to commemorate the heroism of the men who fought in the War Between the States. ^ The play, Soldiers in Gray, A Musical Journey, is Clardy’s vision of the men who fought for their land, their freedom and their homes. This portrayal of a solder’s life, told with music and story telling, is based on letters and facts of the period before, during and after the War Between the States. Clardy was inspired to write the play while performing at a memo rial service in Georgia in 1991 and wrote the title song, Soldiers in Gray, shortly afterwards. He has now performed the play over 150 times in more than a dozen states and gives his audience a sense of the past at every performance. Dear Ms. Cleo: I know parents everywhere will agree with me that it doesn’t seem pos sible that school has started. My children have changed schools and new car pools have to be set up all over again. One parent who wants to be included in our car pool has made it very clear that she cannot do ANY of the driving. She has to be at work earlier than school starts and does not leave work until well after the children get home. What do you sug gest we do with a parent like this? Feeling Used Dear Feeling: You know, you just have to wonder about people like this. And.. ..usual ly they have the sweetest children. All the rest of the parents do all they can to help with every little thing and wonder all along if they are rais ing another Charles Manson. Then, there’s a situation like this one and the kids are just so dear, you can’t possibly leave them out. Ms. Cleo advises that you not ignore the needs of the children just because their parents are demanding creeps. Include the kids and make the best of it. They can’t help the way their parents turned out. If you have any questions for Cleo write her at P.O. Box 1221 Statesville, NC 28687. There is no need to use your name unless you want to.
