on Scott’s Rosenwald School

the Scott’s Rosenwald School, the
Rosenwald Foundation and educa
tional opportunities made available
to blacks at Scotts Community
Recreation Center on Tuesday,
Oct. 5, at 7 p.m. Turner and Bailey
have done extensive research back
to the 1860s on blacks in Iredell
County and attended the Scotts
Rosenwald School and Unity High
School.
The pair’s research and history are
included in several articles in the
Iredell Heritage Book (vol. 2) and
they have made presentations of
their research to the NC Historical

University of North Carolina at
Charlotte. She is retired, after
teaching for 30 years in the Iredell
County Schools.
Bailey holds a bachelor of science
degree from Livingstone College,
a master’s in public administration
from the State University of New
York at Albany, and had taken
additional graduate courses at var
ious colleges within the state’s uni
versity system. She teaches devel
opmental math at Mitchell
Community College.
