The course was 0.6 miles. Racers of levels l-5, with one being the highest skill and five being the lowest, competed in the Statesville Criterium. While the first race was for category 4-5 entry level racers, the racers are definitely not beginner bicycle riders, said announcer Chad Andrews. Next, the masters, who are top level amateur and regional level racers at least 35 years old, competed. Many masters racers also competed in the final pro race. After category 2-3 bicyclists competed, the top-level pros took the streets around 8:45 p.m. for the last race. In the pro division, Tim Henry of Jittery Joe’s Professional Cycling Team in Athens, GA, was first; Kleber Ramos Da Silva, second; and Ryan DeWald, third. Davin Duncan took first in category 2 3 while Sean Weddell won first in the masters'division. Michael Byrd won in the category 4-5 division. A covered dish lunch will follow the service. Revival services begin that evening at 7 p.m. and other revival services will be held through August 15.
