Troutman will be Saturday May 17, 8:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Christ Boulevard United Methodist of Church, 1947 E. Broad St., Statesville. All proceeds benefit the Iredell Cancer Fund, a local non profit organization. I he Fort Dobbs Chapter of the North Carolina Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, celebrated its 100th Anniversary on Tuesday, April 29, with a tea at the Sharpe House on S. Center Street. Dr. Ralph Bentley presented a landscape of the Fort Dobbs Site to the Chapter on behalf of the board of directors of Friends of Fort Dobbs. Dr. Bentley remarked that without the assistance and foresight of former members of the Fort Dobbs Chapter, DAR, the restoration site would not be at the stage it is today. The picture was painted by Robert Steele. The Centennial Tea was attended by National, State, and District Officers, members from The Mary Slocum, John Knox, Elizabeth Maxwell Steele, and Fort Dobbs Chapters; as well as members of the board of directors of Friends of Fort Dobbs. The JROTC was represented by Colonel Frank Gammon, US Army retired, who is the JROTC director at Statesville High School, NCSCDA and DAC members also attended. Chamber music was provided by Steve Bell, who was dressed in authentic Revolutionary clothing. The Sharpe House was beautifully decorated with floral arrangements given by Mrs. C.W. Chapin. Lynda Sloan was caterer for the occasion. Kathleen Grant Hatchett designed and made the cakes that were served, as she did at the 75th Anniversary of the Chapter. Mrs. Ann Sharpe Brady, hostess chairman, is a direct descendant of the Sharpe Family. She made arrangements for use of the Sharpe House. Field and Stream Garden Club Meets The Field and Stream Garden Club will meet Thursday, May 15, at 7 p.m. at the home of Betty Johnson. The group will have its annual plant exchange at the meeting at Friendship Church Rd. The club meets the third Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. For more information call 704-876-1803 or 704-876-4908.
