Well, the fact is, our team has been doing exceptionally well. The High School, because of its enrollment is classed as a C class school athletically. The teams have always been good here so we play teams in the B class. Our team last year went into the semi-finals in the B division. When we play schools like Bur lington and Hugh Morson, which are A class schools, we are play ing teams two classes above us. Therefore, we say, the team is doing swell to hold these teams to such a small margin of win Messrs. Bill Carmichael and Bill Olson are planning to write several volumes under the title, “Expose of What Really Happens Under the Basket.’’ Volume I is Isn’t Looking and How to Do It’ ary of Modern Profanity. THE MEETING PLACE IN TOWN In the previous game which IS played in Burlington, the Hillians came near defeating the Bulldogs. However, the big Class A team finally won out. In last week’s game the ’Cats took an early lead on three field goals, two by Blake and one by Carroll. The Bulldogs soon were able to catch up and at halftime the score stood tied-up in a deadlock, 12-12. In the second half the ’Cats were able to sink two field goals while Burlington bucketed five, to end the game with the Bull dogs triumphant, 24-16. The high scorer for the Hill- men was Blake, who dropped: in three field goals and two foul shots for a total of 8 points. ‘‘B” Team Wins Close Game The Chapel Hill High School B team, coached by a former C. H. H. S. student, Bill Smith, came back last week to defeat the Bur lington B squad, 18-16. The game was played before the A team game in the Woman’s gym and was closely contested all the way. Teague was high scorer with 6 points to his credit. An outclassed and outplayed Chapel Hill High School basket ball team last Tuesday night fell victim to a big, speedy Hugh Morson High five, 35-14, in a game played in Raleigh. It was the third straight loss for the Wildcats. The Hillians started off with their usual bang and led 4-3 early in the first quarter. Here, as in their two games with Burling ton, the Cats failed to hold their pace and trailed the home team at the half. In the third quarter the Mor son boys really opened up and, by the end of the period the Wild cats were out of the contest. Coach Bud Stanbach played everyone on the bench in this period in an effort to stem the scoring tide of the Raleigh quin tet. The Hillians showed some improvement in the final quarter, but at no time seriously threat ened. High scorer for Chapel Hill was Carmichael, netting three field goals for a total of six points. Chapel Hill also lost the “B” team game, which preceded the main contest, by the score of 12-8. In this game it was much the same story as in the Varsity game, only not as bad. Line- berger and Teague were the stars for Chapel Hill. Fitch Lumber Co., Inc.
