Merritt Stars In 28-24 Triumph Friday night at the Woman’s Gym, the Chapel Hill High girls ended their season with a tri umph over Methodist Orphanage 26-24 in the hardest fought game of the season. Coach Lloyd’s cagers took the lead early in the game and man aged to hold it throughout the contest. The game was a thriller and at the half the CHHS girls held the lead 16-14 with scoring by Phillips, Merritt, and Hogan. The kittens plunged ahead in the second half to extend their lead. The scoring was fast and frequent by both teams, but in the last forty-five seconds the CHHS girls sank two baskets which brought them a victory of 26-24. Evelyn Merritt was high scorer for the evening tallying twelve points. She was followed by Ho gan, Phillips, and Sparrow having excellent backing by the guards, Scott, Merritt, Hamilton and Cashion, who had not seen action since the Cary game due to an ac cident.
