CARROLL
(Continued from page one)
lian outfit at least until he has
had another crack at the boys
from Hillsboro. After that con
test Carroll will make his final de
cision and the outcome of the
game will definitely affect his
choice. Should the Wildcats win
and advance to the State semi
finals, Carroll will most probably
remain with the team throughout
the remainfder of the season.
Should the Chapel Hill boys suf
fer defeat Saturday, Carroll may
leave school to join the Caps where
his services would be more des
perately needed than here in
Chapel Hill.
All in all, Pres really enjoys
playing baseball, whether it be
for money or Stanbach’s milk
shakes. To hear Bud talk you’d
think Carroll was another Lou
Gehrig. Come to think of it, may
be he is.
HILLSBORO

at a later date for the champion
ship of this district. Should the
winning team go on to triumph
over Dunn, they would then be
advanced to the State semi-finals.
Students are requested to re
member that while at Emerson
Field they are the guest of the
University and the U. S. Navy and
should conduct themselves accord
ingly.

Boy Scouts Form
New Type Patrol
This week a Boy Scout Ex
plorer Patrol will be formed. It
will consists of Scout and former
Scouts over fifteen years of age.
Explores Scouting offers a vast
program which any person inter
ested in woodlore and camping
would surely enjoy. The camping
program includes overnight hikes,
attending Scout Camporee, and
possibly a week’s hike into the
Western North Carolina Moun
tains this summer.
The first meeting will be held
at 7:30 next Monday night at the
Recreation Center. At the meet
ing a leader will be selected who
will thereafter be in charge of the
groups at meetings and camping
trips.
Anyone desiring further in
formation should see either
Charles Bartlett or Bill Browne.
Graduation Choir Formed
A mixed choir, under the direc
tion of Mrs. L. C. MacKinney,
started rehearsals for graduation
music this week. A varied group
of musical selections have been
chosen for both the Baccalaur
eate service and the commence
ment exercises. Fifty-eight girls
and twenty-five boys signed up as
being interested in helping with
commencement music. The num
ber will be reduced, it is thought,
as a result of try-outs.

Library Notes
Religious Book Week is being
observed for the third time. The
library is featuring a display of
religious books and books of good
will. A book list prepared by the
National Conference of Chris
tians and Jews has been checked
against the holdings of the library
here and is found with the other
items on display.
Do see the new book by Flor
ence Fitch entitled One God: The
Ways We Worship Him. It is a
beautiful presentation of the
three great religions of America.
Not all the titles can be listed, but
the following represent a few
more of the books deserving your
attention:
Chase. The Bible and the Com
mon Reader.
Bainton. The Church of Our
Fathers.
Piper. Youth Explores the
Bible.
Keller. Let Us Have Faith.
Gaer. How the Great Religions
Began.
