Resigns Post

Mitchell College will soon lose
a most popular music in
structor, Mrs. Sharyn Russell
McSwain. The effective date of
her resignation is Dec. 2.
Mrs. McSwain, a native of
Asheville, has received many
honors which have molded her
into becoimng the kind of music
teacher she is today. She re
ceived her Bachelor of Music
degree in piano at Mars Hill
College and furthered her study
at Cincinnati Conservatory of
Music, where she was honored
with a scholarship. Mrs. Mc
Swain was granted her Master
of Music degree from the Uni
versity of Kentucky. She has
been a church organist for
seven years in her own church.
In addition, she was a piarust
for the Lexington (Ky.) Phil
harmonic.
Commuting Problem
TTie reason for her departure
concerns her corranuting to and
from Charlotte, where she now
lives with her husband David, a
former Mitchell student. It is
somewhat hard for her to teach
here in Statesville and to fulfill
simultaneously her wifely

To sum up her one and one-
half years serving this school,
she states, “I have loved every
minute of teaching here and
have been very close to my
music students.” She also ex
presses deep appreciation
toward the administration.
faculty and students for being
so wonderful to her. She regrets
the fact that she has to resign,
but “there are times when other
things come first,” she earnest
ly admits.
Regarding the future, Mrs.
McSwain intends to participate
in part-time work in Charlotte.
