i Editor's Desk “Peace” and “Joy” are the most ..familiar expressions of good will found on Christmas cards. And as this is the best wish that we can extend, our signatures are simply written under them. However, between the frus trating impasses of the War and Congressional efforts to stem poverty on one hand and the pressures and distractions that accompany the holiday season, these words seem to strike an unrealistic note in these times of ours. The season which is in tended to provide us with a cer tain amount of interior peace of soul and relaxation from the physical pressures of duty seems to frustrate the very reason for which we have the holiday. When in this frame of mind there is an inclination to place one’s self into a kind of mental trance by merely going through the motions of the season with out a realistic consideration that peace and joy is an integral part of Christmas. Christian peace and joy be come real with human kindness and gratitude. As Christ assists us to reflect these qualities we show people what they are really looking for; God in a man. Dur ing Advent we have prepared to receive and pass on the gifts of His peace and joy, which He "•alone can give. Now on Christ mas Day He comes with these gifts. We therefore extend to our readers good wishes for a blessed and happy Christmas Season. Monsignor McNerney Is Buried at Belmont , Charlotte — Pontifical Re quiem Mass of Burial for the Rt. Rev.
