This was an outstanding occasion and it has been one that I have looked forward to for some time. During this banquet. Wor shipful Brother Fred Harding was recognized as a Charter Member of Raleigh Lodge No. 500. Before affiliating with this Lodge on De cember 26, 1899 which was at that time under dispensation, he was a member of William G. Hill No. 218. (Raleigh Lodge No. 500 re ceived their Charter on January 10, 1900.) Brother Fred has also served as Grand Tyler for the Grand Lodge of North Carolina “from time immemorial.’’ I have enjoyed his friendship for these many, many years. I congratulate the officers and members of this fine Lodge for the outstanding work they are doing under the leadership of Worship ful Brother J. E. Edwards, Mas ter. Once again this month, I have had the privilege to present sever al awards and enjoy the wonder ful fellowship with my Masonic brethren. During my District meetings, I was asked by several of the breth ren for a copy of the talk which I made at some of the meeting's; therefore, I have asked Brother Tom McCrea, Editor of “The North Carolina Mason” to include in this month’s issue the one en titled “The Lamp Lighter.” It seems that this year has slipped away very quickly. Glanc ing at the calendar, I see that al most lOVi months have passed since I was installed as Grand Mas ter. This has been a very rewarding FORE! We wish for each of them that futurity of happiness and pros perity, commensurate with an honest effort to discharge faith fully the duties and obligations God and Man has placed upon them. The greatest challenge the world has ever known was given in the Roman world through Pontius Pilate when he asked “What is truth?” The world is still asking it. with the truth still standing boldly before it. •—TRM year for me and it will long be treasured in the years to come. Now, I am looking forward to the Annual Communication, which is to be held in Raleigh on April 16th and 16th, when it will be my honor and pleasure to welcome the brethren whom I have had the this State during my year as Grand Master.
