ONE DOLLAR A YEAR
Grand Master's Corner
(Below is the message given at all district
meetings during the past year. Acknowledge
ment is made of the use of Short Talk Bulle
tins published by The Masonic Service Asso
ciation on the subjects of Secrecy and Charity
in the preparation of this talk.)
The Grand Master’s program this
year includes the four points stressed by
Brother Bob Bass last year: Support
of Oxford Orphanage; The Masonic and
Eastern Star Home; The Order of De-
Molay For Boys; and celebration of St.
John’s Days.

There’s nothing
1 can add to what
you have already
heard about the
Orphanage and the
Home, except to
say that your in
creased support of
both is urgently
needed to enable us
to continue proper
ly caring for those
320 children from
broken homes, and
those 140 old folks
who are no longer able to care for them
selves. Brethren, this year and every
year, there is nothing more important
to us than these two institutions, and I
urge you to open your hearts, and your
pocketbooks, in their behalf.
The third item is The Order of De-
Molay For Boys. This one needs active
moral support on the local level, not
money. I heard this subject discussed
by Grand Masters from several states
in February, and in every case it was
said by those where DeMolay was ac
tive, that DeMolay was not looking for
money; that their critical need was for
leadership from the Masons—on the lo
cal and state level.
I don’t know of anything better you
and I can do to insure a good future for
this great country of ours’ than to help
these young boys, to train them in the
way of life that will help them, become
good citizens in our communities, in our

underwent surgery for the removal of
a ruptured disc on Tuesday, February 3.
Brother Robbins returned home Febru

therapy will soon have him walking 3

jogging. He will return to his office on
a limited basis around February 22.

The first chapel service for 1970 at
The Masonic and Eastern Star Home
was conducted by Pioneer Lodge No.
685 of Winston-Salem on Sunday, Jan
uary 4, 1970 at 3 P.M.
This rewarding annual event for
members of Pioneer Lodge was organ
ized by Brother C. W. Mclver, Chaplain.
As is their custom the officers assem
bled in the Chapel foyer a half hour be
fore the service to assist and greet the
guests.
The welcome to the service and intro
duction of Pioneer Lodge officers, of
whom all but two were present, was
conducted by our Junior Deacon, Broth
er Roger L. Allen. After scripture read
ing and prayer by our Chaplain, Broth
er C. W. Mclver, the choral group of
girls from Rainbow Assembly No. 37 of
Winston-Salem provided the music and
several hymns to the enjoyment of the
guests. The ladies faces always take on
a warm glow and smile when the young
folks are present and particularly when
they sing or entertain them.
A very appropriate sermon for the
