March, 1970 The North Carolina Mason Page Three 1970 OFFICERS OF DUNN’S ROCK LODGE, BREVARD, NORTH CAROLINA The largest crowd ever to attend the in stallation ceremonies of Dunn’s Rock Lodge No. 267 .Brevard, was present in the Temple on East Main Street on Saturday, January 3. The following were installed by Harvey L. Souther, Past Master, and V. P. Fullbright served as installing marshall: Front row, left to right, W. Charlie Russell Creedmoor Lodge 499 Joint Installation Held By Opens School Cornerstone Three Raleigh Lodges A group of Creedmoor Masons, head ed by Brother John Stallings, Master, opened the tin-plate-covered corner stone of the Creedmoor Elementary School on January 14, 1970. The build ing had been destroyed by fire. The cornerstone was laid August 14, 1908, by the Grand Lodge of North Car olina. M.'.W.'.Brother Samuel M. Gat- tis. Grand Master, officiated at the cere mony. According to the Grand Lodge Pro ceedings, the following articles were de posited in the cornerstone: Holy Bible by M. L. Winston, three-cent coin by I. E. Harris, corn (57 years old) raised by W. E. Bullock, twenty-five-cent coin by J. M. Neathery, penny by E. Parjai- son, history by Dr. J. T. Sanford, ad vertisement by Dr. J. F. Sanford, penny by B. Marse, British coin (50 years old) by J. R. Neathery, and $10,000 check by Dr. Nathan Rosenstein. Upon opening the cornerstone all the above items were found except the corn and the $10,000 check. The contents are now displayed under glass at the Ma sonic Lodge in Creedmoor. A joint installation of officers for Hi ram Lodge No. 40, Raleigh Lodge No. 500 and William G. Hill Lodge No. 218 was held in the Raleigh Masonic Temple on Monday evening, December 29, 1969. Installing officers for the occasion was Brother Jim Campbell, P.M., Brother A. C. “Jack” Honeycutt, P.M., D.D.G.M., was Master of Ceremonies, and Alton L. Strickland, P.M., Chaplain. Regularly installed for Hiram Lodge No. 40 were; Ralph M. Moore, Jr., Mas ter; Kenneth G. Halstead, Senior War den; Donald B. Street, Junior Warden; Charles P. Separk, P.M., Treasurer; James W. Campbell, P.M., Secretary; William C. Austin, Past Master and Secretary of Greenville Lodge No. 284, was presented the first Masonic Visitation Award of the Fifth Masonic District Monday evening at the Green ville Masonic Temple. The presentation was made by Bennie D. Brown, District Deputy Grand Master of the Fifth Ma sonic District. The award was initiated as a program to improve visitation among the nine lodges within the District. To achieve the award Bro. Austin vis ited more lodges the most number of times and is entitled to keep the award until his successor is named. Bro. Wiley P.
