Bundy, P.G.M., Dies Suddenly The members of the Masonic Craft and the North Carolina public generally were shocked at the news of the sudden death of Most Worshipful William J. Bundy, Past Grand Master, who died in Stavanger, Norway, on June 27, 1970. Brother Bundy was on a tour with a, group of Shriners at the time of his death. Funeral services were held in Jarvis Memorial United Methodist Church, Greenville, N. C. on Sunday, July 5 at 3 P.M. Reverend Troy Barrett, Pastor, conducted the services, assisted by Dr. Edgar -.JR, ■ Fisher and the Reverend Brother Adrian E. Brown, Sr., both of whom are former pastors of Jarvis Memorial Church. At the conclusion of the services in the church, the remains were conveyed to the Greenwood Cemetery in Green ville, where they were interred with Masonic Honors. M.'.W.’. Robert L. Pugh, P.G.M., conducted the ceremony, assisted by W.'.A. D. Leon Gray, P. M., and Assistant Grand Chaplain. Pallbearers were M.’.W.’.W. Edward Burner, P.G.M.; M.'.W.‘.Robert N. Bass, Jr., P.G.M.; M.'.W.'.James W. Brewer, P.G.M. and Grand Treasurer; W.'.Leslie H. Garner, Grand Steward; M.'.W.'.Charles A. Harris, P.G.M., and Grand Secretary; M.'.W.‘.William A. Hooks, P.G.M.; M.'.W.'. Alfred A. Kafer, Jr., P.G.M.; and M.'.W.'.Harvey W. Smith, P.G.M. Brother Bundy is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ruth Carson Bundy, a daugh ter, Mrs. Robert Glover of Rocky Mount; his mother, Mrs. J. T, Bundy, of Farmville; one brother, Sam Bundy of Farmville; and two grandchildren. William James Bundy was born near Farmville, Pitt County, North Carolina, on February 19, 1900, a son of the late James T. Bundy and Huldah Gay Bundy. He attended Bynum Public School and Farmville High School, where he earned the personal appellation of “Dick.” After graduation he worked for one year for W. M. Long Company. He William L. Ramsey, Sr. Killed In Auto Accident Brother William Lee (Bill) Ramsey, Sr., 75, of Fayetteville, was killed in an automobile accident near Greenville, Sunday, July 5, while returning home after attending the funeral of M.'.W.'. William J. Bundy, P.G.M. Funeral services were held at 3 P.M., Thursday, July 9, in the Hay Street United Methodist Church, Fayetteville, N. C. Burial with Masonic Rites was in the Lafayette Memorial Park. Brother Ramsey was a retired furni ture factory representative and a mem ber of the Fayetteville Rotary Club. He was a Past Grand Commander of the Grand Commandery of North Car- (Continued on Page Two) M.'.W.'."WILLIAM J. BUNDY, P.G.M. 1900-1970 enrolled in Trinity College in 1918 and was awarded the degree of Bachelor of Arts in 1922. He served as Principal of the Pine- town High School in Beaufort County and Assistant Principal of Bethel High School for one year each. He then studied law at the Cumberland Univer sity Law School in Lebanon, Tennessee, and completed the Wake Forest Law School in the summer of 1925. He passed the State Bar Examination in August, 1925. He returned to the public school and served as Principal of Speed High School in Edgecombe County for one year. In June, 1926 he returned to Bethel, where he started his practice of law. He moved his law office to Green ville in 1927 and his residence in 1930. After serving as District Solicitor for seven years, he was appointed Judge of the Superior Court and was re-elected (Continued on Page Two) Historic Bible Presented To Grand Lodge An event of historic significance occured during the last Annual Com munication of the Grand Lodge of North Carolina in Durham when the Bible which was used when the Grand Lodge of North Carolina was organized in Tarboro, N. C. in 1787, was presented to the Grand Lodge by Brother Tom A. Collins of Tarboro, North Carolina. This is one of the most significant acquisitions made by the Grand Lodge in many a year and the officials of the Grand Lodge of North Carolina are loud in their expressions of gratification in having acquired a Bible so closely rela ted to the beginning of the Grand Lodge of A.F.&A.M. in North Carolina. According to reports. Most Worship ful James W. Brewer, (jrand Treasurer and Past Grand Master was making a speech in Tarboro at Concord Lodge No. 58 and presenting 50 year veteran’s em blems, sometime last year and at the conclusion of the meeting in which the speech was made Brother Tom A, Col lins of Tarboro approached him and (Continued on Page Three)
