February, 1971 The North Carolina Mason Page Three Lad ies' Night Banquet William G. Hill No. 218 The Ladies Night banquet of William G. Hill Lodge No, 218 was held in Ral eigh Masonic Temple November 21, with a meal served by Raleigh Chapter, Order of the Rainbow for Girls. Invo cation was by W.'.Brother Harrison Kauffman. Brother Dee 0. Lineberry, P.M., Chairman of the Masonic & Eastern Star Home Committee, presented $3,000 check to Brother Troy G. Robbins, Su perintendent, for the Home supporr, and Brother Harry Shor, the 24-year continuous service chairman of Oxford Orphanage Committee presented $6,500 check to W.'.Brother Eli T, Regan, As sistant Superintendent, as our contri bution for the year. Brothers Robbins and Regan expressed appreciation and invited the brethren to visit both places. All widows of deceased members in the Raleigh area had been invited as special guests for the occasion, and 24 were present—each was recognized in dividually by Brother Walter I. Dodd, Jr., Senior Deacon. Brother S. G. Peterson, Jr., Junior Warden, presented the distinguished guests, including M.'.W.'.Brother Rob ert N. Bass, Jr., P.G.M., W.'.Brother R. P. Dudley, Assistant to the Grand Secretary; Brother Troy G. Robbins, Superintendent, Masonic & Eastern Star Home; W.'.Brother Eli T. Regan, Assistant Superintendent, Oxford Or phanage; W.'.Brother Harrison Kauff man; W.'.Brother Ralph M. Moore, Jr., Master, Hiram No. 40; W.'.B. Brother Jack D. Moore, Master, James Green Lodge No. 735; W.'.Brother William P. Howell, Master, J.J. Crow der No. 743, and W.'.Brother D. C. Crutchfield, Jr., P. M., Secretary, J.J. Crowder No. 743. Mr. Bobby Sutter, accompanied by Mrs. Sylvia Sutter (his wife) at the piano, rendered two musical numbers from “My Fair Lady”. The Sudan Chanters, under the direc tion of Brother Boyd M. Spence, render ed several numbers, and they led the crowd in group singing. W.'.Brother John B. Byrd, Jr., Mas ter, expressed his appreciation to the brethren and their guests for attending, and to the various committee members who had worked so diligently in making arrangements; recognized Brother Wil liam W. Hinnant and Mrs. Hinnant, who have recently returned to Raleigh to make their home after spending abouc 16 years in the Norfolk area after his retirement. Brother Hinnant is plan ning to re-affiliate with No. 218. The Benediction was by Brother Troy G. Robbins. PAST MASTERS INSTALL FORT BRAGG OFFICERS An impressive array of Past Masters par ticipated in the installation ceremony on Sat urday, December 12, 1970 at the Fort Bragg Masonic Temple in Spring Lake, North Carolina. The installing officer, Leon G. King, Past Master of Oriental Lodge No. 158, Baltimore, Maryland, was assisted by the following Past Masters of Fort Bragg Lodge No. 667: Installing Marshal, Charles W. Bird; In stalling Secretary, George W. Smith; Instal ling Chaplain, Clyde Harrell; Installing Junior Deacon, William C. Hammond, Jr.; Installing Tyler, Billy Wilkins. Farris A. Hunt, Past Master of Fort Bragg Lodge No. 667 and presently Field Agent for Air Force Hospital Visitation, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, brought an inspiring message on our Masonic Hospital Visita tion Service and the vastness of our wide wide world of fraternal masonry. A most delightful reception was held in the Christmas decorated Horace W. Zizlar dining hall by Highland Court No. 7, Order of the Aramanth. _ It was an honor to have seven of the Cer tified Lecturers of Fort Bragg Lodge No. 667 present for the Ceremony. Other officers installed were: Bro thers F. H. Wackerhagen, S. W.; J. R. Lancaster, J. W.; L. J. Kettinger, Trea surer ; A. E. Fey, Secretary; R. L. Allen, S. D.; A. J. White, J. D.; C. W. Mclver, Steward; J. G. Roland, Steward; J.D. Skerratt, Chaplain; and E. L, Watson, Tyler. Through the cooperation of Mrs. C. F. Koelmel seeing to it that Brother Char les Koelmel was present and the plan ning of our Master-elect to appoint Brother Charles as an installing officer, the lodge was enabled to have a surprise presentation of a 25-year Masonic Veteran Award to Brother Charles F. Koelmel by our beloved District Deputy Grand Master, W.'.Brother Joseph H. Glower, P. M. W.'.Brother Joseph Butz- bach, a Past Master of Gavel Lodge in New Jersey (the lodge in which Brother Charles was raised), assisted in the pre sentation. Archer Lodge No. 165, Zebulon, with Ralph Bunn as installing officer, in stalled Rev. Jack Herbert Halstead as Master in ceremonies on January 2. Rev. Halstead, retired Baptist minister, moved to Zebulon from Gad W. Va., in 1961 and became a member of this lodge in 1966. Other officers installed were: Roy Vinson, S. W.; Wiley Johnson, J. W.; Henry Congleton, Treas; Eugene Hin ton, Sec.; James Hinton, S. D.; Douglas Narron, J, D.; Willard Hinnant and Dick Richards, Stewards; Wilbur Pul ley, Chaplain; and Charles Narron, Tyler. Jerome Raper, P.M.; D.D.G.M., acted as installing Marshal, and Jack Hatley, P.M., was installing Chaplain. With many fine compliments on the success of W.'.Joseph M. Maass, our re tiring Master, in leading Pioneer Lodge through a fruitful year, W.'.Brother E. W. Lockwood, P. M. presented him a beautiful Past Masters’ apron in behalf of the lodge. Likewise W.'.Brother W. L. Oakley, P. M. presented Brother Maass a distinguished looking Past Masters’ ring.
