Oxford Orphanage Alumni
Centennial Homecoming
Hookertoil and Roxboro Meets
Plans Are Completed

On Sunday, September 9, the Board of Di
rectors and Committee Chairmen of the Ox
ford Orphanage Alumni Association met in
Oxford to make final plans for the Centennial
Celebration to be held at Oxford, October 12,
13, and 14.
The weekend will begin Friday at 8 p.m.
with a dance in the National Guard Armory
for Alumni, Shriners and friends. Music will
be furnished by the Sudan Temple Shrine Or
chestra under the direction of Bob Haas.
Saturday at 11 a.m. a parade will begin at
the Oxford Baptist Church and break up at
the Orphanage where lunch will be served to
all parade participants and alumni.
The Candy Corner and Memory Lane, a nos
talgic journey into the past, will be set up in
the gymnasium, with over 4,000 pictures being
shown.
A tea for the past and present faculty will
be held Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in the Shipman
Cottage on the Orphanage campus.
The Oxford Shrine Club will hold their an
nual fish fry Saturday evening, October 13,
with the proceeds going to the Crippled Chil
drens Hospital.

Thirteen district meetings were held dur
ing August, as Grand Master Nathaniel C.
Dean and his entourage passed the midway
point in their 1973 coverage of the sixty-five
North Carolina Masonic districts. The North
Carolina Mason covered two of the August
meetings—in District 33 at Person Lodge 113

District Meeting Schedule
Less than two months of the 1973 district
meetings remain but during that period there
will be meetings in almost every geographical
area cf the State. The Mason who has not
attended a district meeting this year and who
wishes to enjoy a well-rounded Masonic meet
ing should be able to find on the following
schedule a meeting within reasonable driving
distance from most points in the State.
Host lodges serve dinner at 6:30 and open
lodge at 7:30. You can hit the road for home
by 9 or 9:15.
