C. Masonic Foundation Shows Steady Growth The North Carolina Masonic Foundation has shown steady growth for the year 1982. The principal sum has increased in excess of $700,000.00 since January 1, 1982, $360,000 of which came from individual contributions. As of November 23, 1982 the total now invested amounted to'$2,391,848.04. Earnings to date have amounted to $190,000.00 which has been divided equally between the Oxford Orphanage and the Masonic and Eastern Star Home. A study of the above figures will show what can be accomplished through this effort. Without the income form the Masonic Foundation to supplement other funds it would be increasingly difficult to continue the program at these two great institutions. An article giving the history and goals of the Foundation can be found on page four of this issue. Brother Robbins Retires As Head of Masonic Foundation Rev. Troy G. Robbins, who came out of retire ment in Florida, to become Executive Vice- President of The North Carolina Masonic Foundation, has resigned. Brother Robbins has a back problem that is aggravated by the amount of travel involved in this position. The Grand Lodge has been very fortunate to have had the service of Brother Robbins at this important time. During the Ceremony of Dedication, Brother Raymond A. Moody, (M-751) acted as Master; Raymond L. Weddle, P.M., (751) was the Principal Architect; Glenn C. Oakes, P.M. (751) was Bearer of the Taper; Jack M. Poole, P.M., (751) was the Bearer of the Constitution; and Marvin V. Olson, P.M., (751) was the Bearer of the Three Great Lights. Eighth Masonic District Has Benefit For Foundation "If there's ever been a success, this is it," said Thompson Vick as he watched the crowd enjoy a benefit barbecue August 28 at the Carteret County Shrine Club near Beaufort. He had two reasons for his level of excitement. He was Master of Ocean Lodge in Morehead City, one of the sponsors, and was a former student of Oxford Orphanage. The Eighth Masonic District, made up of lodges in Beaufort, Havelock, Morehead City and Newport, and the Order of the Eastern Star staged the barbecue to raise money for the North Carolina Masonic Foundation. The barbecue, which organizers have decided to make an annual event, raised, after expenses, $7,500 for the Foundation. (Continued on Page Two)
