CX—NO. 3 Oxford, North Carolina 27565, September, 1985 ONE DOLLAR A YEAR Three New Temples Dedicated New Temple Dedicated for Sanford Lodge No. 151 Sanford— An Emergent Communication of the Grand Lodge of Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons of North Carolina, was held in the Temple of Sanford Lodge No. 151 on Wednesday, September! 1,1 985, for the purpose of dedicating the new Temple. Grand Lodge officials present for the ceremony included: Robert P. Dudley, P.M., Grand Secretary; Jerry G. Tart, P.M., Senior Grand Deacon; Marvin D. Wilson, Grand Tyler; D. Doyle McLeod, Sr., P.M., C.L., District Deputy Grand Master, Thirty-Eighth District; Dudley A. Kinsey, P.M., C.L., District Deputy Grand Lecturer, Twenty-Eighth District; Hubert V. Massengill, P.M., C.L., District Deputy Grand Lecturer, Thirty- Eighth District; and T. Walton Clapp, Assistant to the Grand Secretary. Most Worshipful Norburn C. Hyatt led the Dedication Ceremony for the new Temple of Lebanon Lodge No. 391. Grand Lodge officials present for the occasion incuded: L. R. Thomas, Junior Grand Warden; (Continued on Page Two) New Temple Dedicated for Wilmington Lodge No. 319 Wilmington— At an Emergent Communication of the Grand Lodge of North Carolina on September 13, 1985, Grand Master Norburn C. Hyatt led the Dedication Ceremony for the new Temple of Wilmington Lodge No. 319. Grand Lodge officials present for the occasion included: Robert P. Dudley, Grand Secretary; (Continued on Page Two) Fifth Annual Outdoor Master Mason Degree and Barbecue Supper By D. Bruce Kerr, Jr., P.M. Forsyth Lodge No. 707 Clouds hung low and skies threatened but Lodge opened on Saturday, August 24 at three o'clock P.M. and the Fifth Annual Outdoor Master Mason Degree was underway. Brother Clarence Frederick(Hoagie) Carmichael of Forsyth Lodge No. 707, A. F. & A. M. was the candidate for whom 375 good men came to honor and to welcome into the most ancient society in the world. Brother Carmichael was deeply moved and most appreciative of all that was done on his behalf. A light mist rolled in during the early part of the second section but the rain held off until just after the lecture began. Yes, it rained! It was about 4:25 P.M., and W.;. Brother Lewis Oakley, 46th Masonic D.D.G.M., P.M., and C.L., had just begun the lecture when umbrellas began popping open and rain gear was (Continued on Page Two) New Day at Oxford Orphanage By Rev. B. Patrick Cox, Chaplain Tuesday, September 3, 1985, dawned bright and early and hot. There was an unusual buzz about campus, and everyone moved quickly and on purpose. Several shouts of "Hurry Upl" could be heard in and about the cottages. To say there was an air of anticipation would be the understatement of the year, for this was the first day of a new school year. And it was a new day, indeed. Everyone gathered shortly before 8 a.m. on main campus to await the arrival of the school buses. Almost every color of the rainbow and then some could be seen as the students displayed their newest shoes, jeans, and shirts. Of course, some of the older girls were really decked out in dress pants and flowery blouses. The younger childern were proud of their homemade bookbags which already bulged with new supplies of paper and pencils. Cottages parents beamed from the porches of each cottage as they sent their charges off with last minute instructions and several "don't forget (Continued on Page Two) A Look at One of the largest crowds ever was present for the annual St. John’s Day celebration on June 23 at Oxford Orphanage.
