Her gift consti tutes all of her savings since Christmas. Why could not other boys and girls save and give their mites—it all helps. Parents would do well to encourage them to earn, save, and give. -o ARE YOU A CHRISTIAN? ARE YOU SAVED OR LOST? TEN REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD BECOME A CHRISTIAN Life is uncertain. “It is appointed unto man once to die—after that is judgment.” A person is twice as liable to die from acci dents as from old age. A person is more liable to die from accidental injury than from any disease that can be named. “There is only a step between me and death”— David. One person in every nine meets with some form of accidental injury each year. One death in every ten results from an acci dent. “Two shall be at the mill grinding; one shall be taken and the other left. More than 15,000 persons are killed and 50, 000 injured each year as a result of fires. “Es cape for thy life”—flee from the eternal fire. More than 7,000 persons are killed each year in railroad accidents. One person is accidentally killed every six minutes, ten every hour, 240 every day, 87,600 every year. You may be next. Are you ready? There are five times more people killed and injured yearly than die from natural causes. “Be ye also ready for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of Man cometh.” More people die from accidents than from consumption, pneumonia and all diseases of the heart combined. You may not have time to re pent in. Every year over 100,000 people lose their arms, feet or hands as a result of accidents. Each accident is a warning. “Prepare to meet thy God. Repent, believe, receive, confess, obey.” Be ye reconciled ta God. o THEME—THE TEST OF OUR KNOWING AND CARING Motto for the Week—“If ye love me, keep my commandments”—John 14:15. Key Thought—Knowing and caring. Review Questions Question 1—Why do we call our church a “Missionary Baptist Church”? Answer—Because we believe we ought to obey Christ in all things, including his mission ary commission. Question 2—What is Christ’s missionary commission? Answer—“Go ye therefore, and make disci ples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” (Matt. 28:19.) Question 3—Can our church, by itself, carry out this commission? Answer—No, the task is too great. We must join with the 28,000 other Baptist churches of the South in order to succeed. Question 4—To whom ought we to give the gospel at home? Answer—To all those who do not know and love Christ in our Southland. These include: 18 million unsaved white people. 5 1-2 million foreigners and their children. 4 million unsaved negroes. 3.750.000 mountaineers. 2 millions in Cuba and Panama. 500.000 Jews. 162.000 Indians. 60.000 sick and afflicted. 10.000 weak churches that need help and en couragement. 5.000 homeless churches that need buildings. Question 5—How can we work together to meet such great needs in the South? Answer — By supporting the Baptist Home Mission Board, located at Atlanta, Ga., through our gifts to the Co-operative Program. Question 6—Why ought we to give the gos pel to people in foreign lands?
