DR. JAMES EDWARD SHEPARD
The hope for the progressweness, scholarly attainment, and ac
cepted equality of onr race can be seen in the face of this likeness
of Ur. James Edward Shepard, recently deceased president of
North Carolina College.
A great educator and scholar, Ur. Shepard fought always for
the advancement of his people.

The student committee was first
organized in 1945. Since then it l.:is

taken in hand the duties and opera
tions of the patrols. The officers for
the year of 1947 are: Elijah Suitt,
chairman, and William Russell,
assistant chairman. The supervisors
are Mrs. Hill, Mrs. Riddick, Mrs.
Johnson, Miss Cruse and Mr. Page.
A good job is being done and the
school is progressing gradually to
wards student government.

Operate This Year
The lost and found department of
Hillside High School will operate a-
gain this year. A committee will be
appointed whose headquarters will be
at the lost and found desk in the office.
Any article that is lost or found
should be brought to the desk. There
it will be listed so the owner may
claim the article.
