In the interest of the health, safety and secu rity of the community and its employees, pub lic access to the Martin County offices and facil ities is restricted, effec tive immediately, with limited exceptions. Staff will continue to report to work on their regular schedules and will be available to serve the public by phone and email from 8 a.m until 5:00 p.m., Mon day through Friday. Public access to all county offices (except for the Sheriff’s Office) will be available by ap pointment only. The Martin County Sheriff’s Office (entrance at the rear of the Governmen tal Center / Courthouse) will remain open to the public at this time. This policy will be reviewed on an ongoing basis and remain in effect at least through Friday, April 3, 2020. Court facilities will be available on an as-need ed basis through the Sheriff’s Office entrance. Most NC District and Su perior Court cases are to be postponed at least 30 days in response to COVID-19. Staff went door to door in areas where stops are not yet available. Mission continues County Schools System serves meals to students The Child Nutrition Team from across Mar tin County Schools continues to work with other school system employees to provide meals for all students across the county. Meals are available for students up to age 18, regardless of wheth er they attend Martin County Schools, any charter school or are home schooled. The following route information is updated from previously printed routes. Martin County School provided this in formation Wednesday, March 25. All Schools have hot meals for pick up on site from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Participants will also be provided a sep arate breakfast meal for the next morning. Martin County Schools will also pro vide Mobile grab and go meals to each district in the county for more convenient pick up. The pickup sites are as follows: Oak City: (SCE) Oak City Fire Depart ment: lla.m.-ll:30 a.m. St. Marks MBC: 11:40 a.m. -12:00 p.m. Hassell Town Com mon: 12:10 p.m.-12:45 p.m. Hamilton: (SCMH) Coastal Ag Hamil ton: 10:55 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. Meeting Needs DSS proactive against COVID-19 SARAH HODGES STALLS Enterprise & Weekly Herald WILLIAMSTON - Mar tin County Department of Social Services (DSS) is taking proactive and prudent measures to ensure the health and safety of staff and resi dents, while continuing to provide vital and es sential services to our most vulnerable popula tion and those in need. “To protect the citizens of Martin County and staff of Martin County DSS, the agency will be operating under emer gency precautions,” ex plained Director Letecia Erby. “At this time, the agency will be open to the public between the hours of 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., Monday through Friday. DSS will con tinue to provide vital services for all, during normal business hours of 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. via telephone.’’Protective gear, hand sanitizer and disinfecting agents have been provided to staff. Handwashing stations are set up and located at the main entrance. Occupancy in the lobby has been reduced to no more than five people. Social distancing of six feet or more are en forced and no personal visitors are allowed for staff. “Residents enter ing the agency during new operating hours are encouraged to uti lize hand sanitizer and provided gloves,” Erby added.
