She is the daughter of the late Alton and Mary Lee Keel of Everetts, NC. Betsy is a graduate of Robersonville High School and East Car olina University. She spent over 40 years as an elementary school teacher, mostly in the Fairfax Cormty Ihibhc School system. She is survived by her husband of 39 years. Jack Lester Myers; her son, Geoff Keel (Diane); step-children, James Myers (Brenda) and Lesley Myers (Pat); step-grandson, Michael Myers (Cate- lyn); sister, Jo Ann Terry; and nephews, Chris Terry (Julie) and Alton Terry. Betsy was a devoted congregant of Higgins Me morial United Methodist Church, as weU as the Blue Ridge Emmaus community. She was a very supportive member of the Philanthropic Educa tional Organization that supports young women and their educational goals. She will be cremated in a private ceremony and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mitch- ell-Yancey Habitat for Humanity, Yancey County Hospice or Higgins Memorial United Methodist Church. Linwood Rogers Byrum, Sr. HAMILTON - Mr. Linwood Rogers Byrum, Sr., 56, died on September 10, 2020. He loved car rac ing and wfll be missed by all. Linwood is survived by his wife, Margaret Byrum, a daughter, Melissa Byrum, and a son Lin- wood Rogers Byrum Ul, all of Hamilton, N.C. He is also survived by a granddaughter Samantha Ann Byrum. He was preceded in death by his parents, Linwood Rogers Byrum, Sr. and Hilda Ray Lassiter Byrum. A visitation was held Monday, September 14th at Biggs Funeral Home, LLC. In WiUiamston, N.C. from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. with a private burial that followed. Thank You! Yvonne fitter Martin WnJJAMSTON - Yvonne Etter Martin, 87, of WTl- liamston, NC joined her Heavenly Father on Sep tember 13, 2020 after a life of love, service and devotion to her Heaven ly Father, her family and so many others who had the pri\41ege of knowing her. Bom on June 1, 1933 in Chicago Illinois, the youngest child of the late Arthur Etter Sr and Marie Mosnier, who had emigrated fi-om France and Alsace-Lorraine at the turn of the century. She is preceded in death by her parents and broth er, Authur Etter Jr. She was raised in Nashville TN, a graduate of East High School class of 1951, going on to receive her imdergraduate teaching degree from George Peabody College in 1955. She then moved to Hous ton Texas to begin her teaching career. She ob tained her Masters in Christian Education in 1959 from the Presbyterian School of Christian Educa tion in Richmond YA. She was a lifelong teacher and Avriter in formal education, home, and church settings contributing intelligent, sormd, thoughtful, witty and warm ele ments in slU her interactions with ^e many people she encountered. She also eryoyed contributing to women’s ministry leadership and teaching as weU as the NC Guardian ad Litum Program. Survived by her husband, Walter Travis Martin Jr in 1959 they were married for 61 years. Also sur vived by her three daughters, Cyndie (Randy) Hill, Mimi (Bryan) Jardine and Laura (Ronny) Kirl^an; four granddaughters, Heidi M Hill, HoUy Y Hfll, Maci M Kirkman and Elena Jardine; two grand sons, M Levi Kirkman and Cristian P Jardine and many nieces and nephews from North Carolina, California and Georgia A loving and dedicated mother to her own daughters and so many others who also called her “Momma Martin”, she was a dignified, strong and tme Proverbs 31 woman.
