Anderson attended the Wake Forest—Villa Nova game in Philadelphia on Saturday. Their son, J. E. Ander son, Jr., flew down from Bingham ton, New York, and joined them for the game. All of them spent the weekend with Mr Roy Githens in Ashland, New Jersey. Mr. and Mrs. Oris Pleasants & Donald, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Bailey and Judy have returned af ter a trip up the Skyline Drive and also visited in Washington, D. C. They stopped over in Richmond ;o do some shopping and came aack by Buggs Island Dam. Mr. and Mrs. Foster Edwards of Wilmington visited Mrs. A. V. foyner last weekend. Mr. Edwards :ame to Raleigh for the Govern- ar’s award which was given him for the most outstanding handi- :apped person. This award was presented on Oct. 3. After refreshments were served, a lovely gift was presented to the bride-elect. Those present were the Misses Ann Patterson, Sue Hunt, Ann Harpdr, Betty Campbell, and Ann Jones of Raleigh. Mrs. C. G. Horner is spending some time in Burnsville with her sisters. From there she will go to Tucson, Arizona, to visit her son, Mr. Donald Horner. She plans _to be gone about six weeks. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. McDevitt and daughters,'' Alice and Jean, at tended the homecoming exercises at Western Carolina College at Cullowhee. Mr. McDevitt was Bursar for that college before ac cepting a position with the State in Raleigh. Miss L. Ruby Reid spent the weekend in Greensboro visiting her cousin, Mrs. Ben Ward. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Keeter were 'isiting relatives in Edenton this last weekend. Their son, Jeffrey, vho had been visiting for some ime there, returned home with his larents. Mrs. George W. Hooks, Jr., & vTrs. Lewis Gill entertained at a lirthday dinner on Sunday, Oct. 2, honoring the following mem- )ers of their family; Mr. George V. Hooks, Jr., Mrs. S. H. Ausley, r., of Dunn; Mrs. J. C. Joyner visited in Canton' and attended the dedica- ion services of the new education building of the 1st Baptist Church Jhe took part in the dedication iervices. Mrs. Joyner taught school here for 19 yearS. Her husband, he late Rev. A. V. Joyner,, was pastor of that church. Mr. and Mrs. E. C. For the fall drama, the Club selected Outward Bound. The cast was selected last week and rehearsals have begun. Mr. Thomas Johnson is director of the play, and Jacque Hall and Kappy Stroud are student directors. Jane Ay cock plays Stella—prior feminine lead; Billy Lynam is Scrubby—-the bartender and navi gator of the ship; Larry Harris & Sally Patterson portray the devoted newly weds; Mr. Lingley, the busi ness man, is played by Murray Greason; and Dixie Smith is Mrs. Midget, the sweet old lady. Mrs. Clivendon Banks, the sophisticated lady, is Virginia Sabiston; and Jim my Green is Duke. Tuesday’s half holiday meant fun for everybody at the State Fair. Jean Bond, Margaret Moses, Betty Eames, Louise Faircloth, Pat Dunham, & Kappy Stroud all piled in the Bond’s “Chevy” and were “off to the fair”. Fred Fran cis and Joe Richardson spent the whole day over there. Saw Carolyn Farnsworth and Rose Lake there, too; Also Sue Ray, and a crew of Seniors. Harry Holding took a load of boys over Tuesday night. Loads of fun, this fair, and not to be forgotten. James Mackie and Tommy Holding flew to Philadelphia for *he Wake Forest-Villa Nova game. I. Glass of Wilming ton, assisted by the Rev. W. M. Warren, officiating at the double ring ceremony. Presenting wedding music were Wallace E. Shearon, Jr., soloist, brother of the bride, and Dr. Paul S. Robinson, organist. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a floor-length gown of white bridal satin with a finger-tip veil of imported T^rench illusion. She carried a iride’s Bible topped with a white irchid. Miss Beverly Shearon, sister of he bride, was her maid of honor ind only attendant. Her floor- length gown was of deep rose taffeta with a deep wine sash, the ;nds of which reached the floor. She carried a bouquet of matching lowers touched with white, and a headdress of matching flowers. The bridegroom had as his best nan his uncle, Carlton Dunn, of Tamaica, New York. Ushers were he Rev. R. T. Commander of Gates, the Rev. T. J. Barrett of Broadway, the Rev. J. D. Aycock jf Scotland Neck, and the Rev. W. M. Wells, Jr., of Warrenton. The bride’s younger brother, Charles Bayard Shearon, lighted the candles prior to the ceremony. The bride’s mother wore a wine velvet gown with matching acces sories, while the bridegroom’s mo- rher wore a royal blue gown of crepe and lace with matching accessories. Both mothers wore identical corsages of purple orchids. Following the ceremony, a re ception was held in the Wake For est Community Building. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace E. Shearon, Sr., of Wake Forest. She attended the Louisburg Junior College and re ceived her B A degree in religious education from Guilford College. For the past year, she has been employed as Dircetor of Christian Education at Trinity Methodist Church, Wilmington, N. C. The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Jacob A. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Fonville were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Fonville of Durham Sun. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Lloyd Sunday were Mrs. Lloyd’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. G. Moi ris, and Mr and Mrs. Frank Bailey of Wake Forest. The Rev. Grover Vaughan and family were given a love offering Sunday by the members of the Baptist Church. This being the last Sunday they would be here. We wish them the very best of every thing and much success as they begin their work in Toomsuha, Mississippi. Mrs. A. S. Smith is spending this week in Chase City, Va., with her daughter, Mrs. E. T. Black- well. Mr. and Mrs. Gibert Mays visited Mr. and Mrs. Jim Clibbe of Raleigh Saturday. A series of services will begin on Sunday night, Oct. 19, at the Falls Baptist Church. The Rev. Hester will bring the messages. The Stewart Quartet will be bringing special music Thursday night, October 23. The Gleaners Class of Baptist Church will meet Saturday night, Oct. 18, at the home of Mrs. Zeb Strickland. The Girl’s Auxiliary met with Mrs. Wesley Watkins Saturday afternoon. Plans were made for a Halloween party. The Rev. and Mrs. Grover Vaughan and Mrs Thomas Cough- enour spent several days in Laur- inburg. The Superintendent and Over seers of Erwin Plant No. 7 enjoy ed a chicken barbecue Saturday night at New Life Bible Camp. The choir of the Baptist Church gave several special numbers at the Vocal Union meeting which was held at Wake Union Baptist Church on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Looper and son visited Mrs. Sue Horn of Raleigh Sunday afternoon. Miss Mary Ann Norwood of Leesville spent the weekend with haven. Long Island, N. Y. He re ceived his B A degree from the Alleghany College, Meadsville, Pa. He received his B. D. degree from Duke Divinity School, Duke Uni versity. He is a member of the North Carolina Conference of the Methodist Church, now serving the Burgaw Charge pastorate. For traveling, the bride wore a gray nylon dress with gray and navy accessories and the orchid lifted from her bridal bouquet. Following their honeymoon, the bridal couple will attend the N. C. Annual Conference Session of the Methodist Church in Burlington, after which they will be at home in Burgaw. Out-of-town guests here for the weekend were Miss Jean Bostian of Wilmington, Mrs. Toe Stroud of Tarboro, and Miss Joyce Fulk of Winston-Salem.
