Cor bin, Jr., chairman, and she ex pects to have the area completed by Heart Sunday, February 21st. In addition to homes and bus inesses being contacted, cheerlead ers at the Rolesville School, took time out from their school cheers on Saturday night at the ballgame, to lend a helping hand. As the girls held on to corners of a blan ket, fans tossed in their donations to the Heart Fund. A total of $33- 65 was received that way. Those participating were: Sue Scarboro Wanda Pulley, Stephanie Mullen, Bonnie Brown, and Mary Ella Mit chell. E. R. Tharrington, princi pal, and Mrs. Constance Mitchell assisted. The 1965-66 Friends of the Col lege series will offer performances by the Metropolitan Opera Nation al Company; Phyllis Curtin and the Esterhazy Orchestra; the Czech Philharmonic; the massed pipes and bands of Edinburg’s Royal Marine Tattoo; the Hungar ian National Ballet; pianist Rudolf Serkin; and Netania Davrath, Mi chel Block and the Monte Carlo Orchestra in a program of var ied French music. With a 1964-65 membership of over 15,000, the Friends of the College became the largest con cert series in the South and one of the largest in the United States. Scott said requests for member ships in next year’s series already have come from as far away as Lima, Peru and Danville, Va., and in North Carolina from Char lotte, Boone, and Morehead City. Scott urged interested music lovers to get in touch with their a “colonel” before the March 15 deadline. No memberships will be sold after that date, he said. Young, a former res ident of Wake Forest and son of the late Allen L. Young of Wake Forest, has been named principal of the new South Lumberton Jr. and Sr. High School which will open in the fall of 1965. He received his elementary and high school training here in the local Presbyterian School. His college work was done at Johnson C. Smith University and Post Graduate work at Columbia Uni versity. Young, a former teacher in the Wake County School system, be came principal of the South Lum berton Elementary in 1942 and re mained there until about two years ago when he took over the leader ship at Hayswood High School fol lowing the death of its principal, William McNeill. We hope Mrs. Linda Walker is better and at her home after spending a few days in Rex Hospital. Mrs. H. J. Spence is better at this time after having surgery in Wake Memorial last Saturday We sat with her on Tuesday of this week awhile, and am real glad to see her doing so well. Mrs. Oma Wadfords little grand- in Todd Wadford had a big birth day last week with a big party with all the trimmings and lots of gifts. Todd is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Lee Wadford and he is six years old. And a big fine boy, happy birthday Todd. Also Mrs. Oma Wadford hopes Rev. and Mrs. Richard Bray of Virginia are receiving the Wake Weekly she sent to them. You know Mrs Bray, Mrs. Wadford is a busy woman and hasn’t had time to let you know she is sending the paper to you. We hope you all en- joy it. Our loving sympathy is extended to the family of Mr. I. 0. Jones who was a long time friend to so many people. We shall miss him, but this is in God’s plan. And I am sure you accept it as such. Bless you all, is my prayer. Our sympathy is extended to all those who are so deeply touched by the tragedy of last Saturday morning, in the death of Johnnie Ann W. Hunter and the injuries that occurred Bless you folks. Who knows what to say or what to do. I don’t I’m sure.
