WF TRACK BOYS CONTINUE WINNING
Getting ready for Garner’s in
vasion of Wake Forest next Wed
nesday, the Wake cindermen took
eight first places and five second
places in sweeping to 65Vz points
last Wednesday over visiting
■Franklinton and Oyford Orphan
age.
Sprinter John Henry Denton and
distance ace Richard Lee were
double victors to lead the Red
Devils romp at the Elementary
School field. Denton zoomed to the
tape first in the 220 yard dash and
beat James Caudle by a step in the
100 yard dash. Lee showed his
heels to the visitors in the 880 and
also in a sparkling mile of 4:39.
Caudle and freshman Mike Gos-
wick were the high point men in
Franklinton’s 36% points. Caudle
took first in the shot put with a
heave of 41 ft. 10% in. Goswick
leaped 5 ft. 1 in. to take high jump
laurels. I
Oxford Orphanage was led by
Elliot and Smith, who made out
standing showings in runnerup
roles in the mile and discus. El
liot’s mile time was 4:50.
Also in the winner’s circle for
Wake were Mike Cruser for the
broad jump, Sid Hardwicke with
the discus, and Steve Lowery in
the 440. Wake also took the mile
relay behind the efforts of Cru
ser, Jimmy Tull, Eddie Warren
and James Smith Warren.

New Jaycees
The Wake Forest Jaycees had
the Garner Jaycees as their guests
Tuesday night at their regular
meeting. Two new members have
been welcomed recently I. D.
Wheeler and David Gbison.
Rotary Endorses
Fluoridation
The Wak,e Forest Rotary Club
has endorsed fluoridation of the
Wake Forest municipal water sup
ply.
According to Mrs. Leland Jones,
president of the Wake Forest Wo
man’s Club which is supporting
the project whole heartedly, the
Rotary is the fourth organization
to endorse fluoridation locally.

nounce the birth of a son, Robert
Scott April 3 in Park View hospital
in Rocky Moxmt.
Mrs. Satterfield is the former
Linda Arrington of Hollister. The

Parsonage Sunday from three to

Guests were greeted at the en
trance hall by Mr. and Mrs. Ray
Pearce and Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy
Allen and shown into the living
room where a receiving line was
composed of Mr. and Mrs. W. T.
Moss, Mr. and Mrs. A1 DePorter,
and Rev. and Mrs. Phillips.

and Dr. and Mrs. A. N. Corpening
invited guests into the den and
dining area where refreshments
of fruit punch, assorted fancy
sandwiches, a variety of cookies,
and mixed nuts were served the
approximately one hundred and

Entertain Club
Mr. and Mrs. N. A. Brown en
tertained their couples bridge
club on Saturday evening, April
3, with a party at their home.
There were three tables playing.
A pretty Easter Holiday theme
was used in decoration. A large
colorful Easter egg with two white
bunnies was centered on a living
room table. Napkins, tallies and
chocolate Easter eggs were also
used. Lovely arrangements of daf
fodils were used in the home.
After the first progressifon of
play, the hostess served a deli
cious dessert course of “ ’63 Pie”
assorted sandwiches and coffee.
During play, guests enjoyed iced
cokes, coffee and mixed nuts.
Following three progressions of
bridge, high score prize for the
ladies was awarded to Mrs. Wiley
Brown and men’s high went to
Turner Felton.

Bernie Barham of Wake For
est caught these nice shad in the
Tar Rive|« at Rocky Mount last
week using “Shad Dart” with
red head and a Vz oz. sinker.
Barham said he lost several
since the fish are such fighters
and the current was so swift.
His total catch for the morning

Rolesville Ball
Teams Honored
Members of the Rolesville Girls’
and Boys’ Basketball teams were
honored Tuesday, March 30th for
dinner at Parker’s Restaurant in
Wilson.
Mrs. Miriam Gay was chairman
of the event which included many
parents and interested basketball
fans in the area. During the eve
ning, awards were presented to
the boys and girls and an appreci
ation gift went to their coach. Bob

With the pretty week-end,
many fishermen in the Roles
ville area were out on the ponds,
one of them was Jimmy Ware,
who proudly shows off a 5 lb.
5 oz. bass. According to fisher
men, this is pretty good for early
in the season. Jimmy, caught
this bass with live bait in a pri
vate pond.

the worship period Mrs. George
