Mrs. Sallie C. Powell spent a few days last week with her bro ther and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Woodlief. Suzanne Mills left for Calif., with Dr. James Tull and Ann this week. Ann and Suzanne will be students at the University of Calif, in Berk ley this summer. Mrs. E. C. Poole attended the graduation of her granddaughter Judy Poole from Enloe High School in Raleigh. Later Mrs. Poole, Judy Poole and Charles Poole went to Feasterville, Pa. to Mrs. Bill Noble’s for the gradua tion of BiUy Noble, Mrs. Poole’s grandson. Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Holding III spent several days last week in New Orleans. Miss Lynda Hicks and Miss Vir ginia Wade were guests of Mr. Bill Womble, staff writer for the News and Obsberver, last week end at his home near Wilmington. Mr. Womble took the girls to some of the interesting places around Wilmington, including Fort Cas well and Old Brunswick. As a member of the Battleship Commis sion, Mr. Womble was able to make a tour of the U. S. S. North Carolina and the “Sight and Sound” show much more enter taining. Bridal Shower Mrs. Ralph Bridges entertained at a shower honoring Miss Sarah Glover on May 16 at the Glen Roy al Baptist Church. A green and white color scheme was carried out with white roses in floral arrangements. Green punch, decorated bridal cakes, nuts, and mints were served to around 25 guests. Bridal Party Mrs. H. L. Miller, Mrs. C. L. Matheny, and Mrs. B. J. Powell honored the former Sarah Glover at Mrs. Powell’s home last Wed nesday. A color scheme of pink and white was caried out in flower arrangements on the table and elsewhere throughout the house. Slide pictures were shown by Mrs. Melvin Winters and Mrs. Powell as suggestions of places to honeymoon. The pictures included such places as Norlth Carolina mountains, beaches, Washington, D. C., New York, Williamsburg, and other places in Virginia. Punch, open face sandwiches, nuts, and cookies were served to about 20 people. Miss Glover re ceived many useful and pretty gifts. Edward Paschal had a Coca-cola party Saturday morning. May 29, in honor of the former Sarah Glover, at her home on Dur ham Road. Mixed summer flowers were used in decorating. Coca-colas, cheese straws, sandwiches, nuts, and cookies were served to ap proximately 15 guests. The honoree was presented a gift of crystal. Beach last week were Mr. and Mrs. John Wooten, Jr. and Shir ley Katherine and Bill, Mrs. Nora HarreU, Paul T. and Nora Ellen. Johnny Wooten is at St. Andrews College in Laurinburg attending a five week Academic Enrichment Workshop for high school juniors and seniors. He will be home for this week end. Mrs. I. T. Stroud has returned home after visiting her son, Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Stroud and fam ily in Louisiana. Mr. and Mrs. Da vid Stroud and family of Fuquay took his mother to La. Chaplain and Mrs. Max Eller and family of Virginia Beach, Va. vi sited her parents. Rev. and Mrs. I. T. Stroud last week. Chaplain Eller and his family will be in Durham next year while he is at tending Duke. Rev. I. T. Stroud was in Alber- ton recently where he attended the home-coming at Jones Chapel Baptist Church. Upon entering the guests were invited into the dining room for lemonade punch, chicken patties and individual lemon pies topped with mint sprigs, candied grape fruit peel, green mints and assort ed salted nuts served from a table covered with pink linen cloth with bridal doll and candle arrange ment. Silver candlelabra with white tapers and ivy graced the buffet. I The bride’s plate was designated ' by a miniature bride and groom. Around 25 guests called during the hour. On the bride’s table, the cen terpiece was a candlelabra flank- I ed with magnolia leaves and lil- lies. After the bride and groom cut the first piece of cake, Mrs. W. W.
